On Saturday, a "Draft Fred Thompson" rally was held in the small, out of the way town of Cooksville, Tennessee. The media is reporting attendance for the get-together at 300. But the petition that attendees signed had more than 500 names attached.
The media pulled a similar shrinking job on the meeting that Thompson held on Capitol Hill earlier this month with Republican members of Congress. Then, it reported numbers between 35 to 40, when the number was closer to 60. If there is one downside to Thompson's process to entering the presidential race, it is that he has limited opportunity to set the record straight on the inaccuracies being generated by the media and the left, if not other GOP presidential campaigns.
For example, the New Republic recently reported that Thompson was a "phony populist" for driving a red truck around the state during his '94 Senate campaign. But it failed to report that he took to driving the truck after his own campaign managers had attempted to package him as a straight, conventional GOP candidate. "The truck wasn't about changing his image, it was about his getting back to who he really was," says a source who worked for Thompson back in '94. "It wasn't spin, just Fred wanting to be Fred."

Please FRmail jellybean, if you want on/off this list. WARNING: This ping list can often be extremely active.
I truly believe that Fred Thompson is exactly as he appears to be. Honest, down to earth, and our best hope yet. BUMP!
“For example, the New Republic recently reported that Thompson was a “phony populist” for driving a red truck around the state during his ‘94 Senate campaign”
The New Republic is an open borders/quasi liberal rag!
BUMP the BUMP!
Actually Fred has lots of opportunities to set straight whatever needs it through his ABC Radio addresses, and he gets paid to do it!
The MSM is scared to death about a Fred Thompson candidacy!!!
You are being way to polite.
That is a massive understatement.
The New Republic is a pure open orders left wing mag that has a gift for good marketing and writing B.S. in a phony way.
I hope Fred runs....I really do. He’s a true conservative,
unlike the three current “Republican” frontrunners.
However, I wish Fred would sh*t or get off the pot,
and formally declare.
I firmly believe that Mr. Thompson knows exactly what he’s doing and is playing this perfectly. I’m anxious to hear him say he’s officially in too, but I’ve learned that some things are worth waiting for and patience is the key. :)
Can I use Fredophobia for the ping list?
Pretty please?
:)
Go for it. BTW, latest version of Fredipedia is 2.26
