STARKVILLE, Miss. A Starkville, Mississippi, man wants a pardon -- not for himself, but for Johnny Cash. The country music star spent a night in the Starkville Jail more than 40 years ago after a public drunkenness arrest.
Cash wrote about it in his autobiography. He said after a concert on campus in 1965, Cash later went to a party at a fraternity house and was arrested by police while walking from his motel to a grocery store to buy cigarettes. He was released the next day.
Another version of the story has Cash arrested while picking flowers in someone's yard.
Robbie Ward says he'll ask the board of aldermen to pardon Cash, who died in 2003.

Good grief - is this really necessary? Aren't there more important things to do?
I wonder if this dummy has a job.

Well coming from the home of the Mississippi State Bulldogs I wouldn’t expect a lot more.

This is stupid for a number of reasons:
(1) Cash was really guilty and there weren't any extenuating circumstances.
(2) Cash used his brief incarceration to build his "outlaw" image.
(3) Cash made it a point of pride to perform at prisons and to bond with the prisoners by telling them he'd been in jail once too.

Yes, some politician is trying to get Jim Morrison of the Doors pardoned in Florida for his public exposure.

I don’t think Johnny Cash would want a pardon.
It would ruin his stree cred.

He even did a song about it

Johnny Cash sings a song about this incident on his live album from San Quentin. He says in the song that he was picking flowers!

At this time, I think Johnny is more interested in The Big Guy’s pardon.

The Big Guys pardon. The Big Guy...is that on Fox? No, that's The Family Guy.
OHHHH! You mean God? I always wondered who "the man upstairs" was. I've always lived in a single story ranch. :^)
btw, It's true, it's the liberal 'feel good' effect.

Not many outsiders know this, I think it is the thought that counts and he should get the pardon.
