Glad you stopped by to identify the little bird, Meg. I like knowing the proper name of the species, but I am nowhere near a proper “birder”...LOL. I know people who keep lifetime lists... you will know what I mean...:)

I know what you mean..I am not proper birder either but I love identifying the ones I see..I do keep a journal of sorts..I started making notes in my Peterson Guide about 1993 after I moved here and started feeding the birds on my patio..
It’s great diary to read when I start worrying about not seeing this or that bird anymore..I only note “new” things now but the old one helps me remember April and really early May are very sparce months of bird watching here at my feeder although they are out there singing their hearts out.
The internet helped me identify my mystery bird, the orange crowned warbler, this winter. Peterson described it perfectly but the pictures on the net confirmed it for me.
