Mitt blew a chance here. When asked to name his favorite novel he could have answered Earth in the Balance by Al Gore or Living History by Hillary Clinton.

Instead he answered, probably honestly, Battlefield Earth by the founder of Scientology.

He inadvertently invited a bad association to himself instead of choosing to make a subtle dig at the opposition.
