Headline at 4pm: Robert Byrd, Hillary Clinton have lined-up votes to "de-authorize the Iraq War" by repealing the authorizing legislation from 2002. Nothing further yet...

Let's see them try. Matter of fact ... why don't they just vote for censure and be done with it?

I thought this was done by resolution, not by a bill. If so, it doesn’t go to the President for signature.

How does one repeal a declaration of war?

Through Victory in Iraq.

They’re responding totally to their loony fringe. Doing that doesn’t really show moderates or other potential voters that they should be voted for in 2008.

It’s not clear from my reading of the constitution which branch of the government has the authority to Un-declare War. I wonder how they get UBL to undeclare his Declaration of War on us, too.

You could be right, but I doubt if that move is legal. It sure would go to the SC for a decision, which could take years.

This is an act of desperation born of much more than just a lust for power. It is well past time the Republicans ask the Dems why they are against a free and open Iraq.

Hint... See my tagline.

I would hope that it would meet with a filibuster in the Senate & then there is the Lieberman factor.

Isn’t the current war in Iraq a result of a broken cease-fire agreement from Gulf war I...technically?
