Republican Presidential Candidate Debate #1 Reagan Library 05/03/07 - Official Discussion Thread
The debate will take place at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, California, and will air live on MSNBC from 8:00 to 9:30 pm (ET) and stream live on MSNBC.com and politico.com and will include audience questions gathered on politico.com.
And so it begins...
Hopefully they all will obey Reagans first commandment.
Can’t wait! I’m not very familiar with all those people, so it will be very interesting for me.

Correction.
11th commandment.
Should be fun to watch, even if it is a bit early for this sort of thing.
Thanks to whoever fixed the glitches in the title. :-)
See tag line.
This will be no fun without Fred.
Oh dear. Hopefully that won’t be needed much and we can have a civil chat.
I’m also hoping for world peace too, so my expectations aren’t high. ;-)
I'm dying to see the questions these 10 Republicans are given... seeing that it's Spitboy and MSNBC/Politico running this thing.
I predict a civil discourse at the debate.
I predict a sh1tstorm on this thread.
I am hoping that at least one of these guys will say they are glad to take tough questions on MSNBC, unlike our Democrat colleagues who are afraid to take questions from the “biased” Brit Hume or Chris Wallace. If they won’t even face reporters they don’t like, how are they going to stand up to al qaeda, or Ahmadinajad??
I can imagine a guy like Giuliani saying this during the debate. I will make my first ‘08 contribution to the candidate who does this!
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN...FELLOW FREEPERS EVERYWHERE!
WELCOME TO THE 2007 VEEP AUDITION FOR THE REPUBLICAN PARTY
Tonight, we will have TEN talking heads competing for the right to be FRED THOMPSON’S Running Mate in 2008.
I’ll be watching Smallville or Heroes online, so let me know who pimp-slaps Chris Matthews tonight. ;)
Peace and Love,
TheRobb7
That AND, at least one of the going even further and talking about how MSNBC/NBC always trash the President and spew a lot of hate speech and lies. Perhaps one of them will even mention the false affidavit in the Libby trial filed by NBC’s own Fat Dim Russert. Fred might do that, but not sure any of the others would.
I hope this is going to be good! With PMS-MBC’s Chrissy Matthews moderating - maybe he go especially hard on the candidates - I’d like to see a real good grilling - like we’ll never see in a democratick debate.
I want to see a REAL debate - the field needs to be narrowed down a bit.
bump
ping
I predict more Rudy-bots will be banned tonight as they show up with support for Julie Annie.

You are right. They should make the point that like President Bush and all candidates on the right, they face a hostile press all the time, and are not afraid because it gives them the opportunity to explain their views and ideas. Meanwhile the wussies on the other side of the aisle are scared of taking a hardball question. It is nothing short of pathetic.
None of the above will be President.
ditto
With that in mind, I think I'll forgo the debate, since I can't stand Spitboy anyway, plus this thread is gonna be better than WWF!
Why is Fred Thompson not on the list? Is he still deciding whether to run?
Fred Thompson isn’t one of the candidates available at this debate.
I’m dying to see the questions these 10 Republicans are given
LOL, I can see it now “When did you stop cheating on your wife?”
Yes.
why not available? is he busy?
In fiscal matters, we rely on audit trails. In ballistics terms, we chart trajectory. In human nature, past actions are the best predictor of future performance. It’s why every employer insists on a verifiable RESUME and many give integrity and drug screening tests.
As an employer looking for a trustworthy public servant to fill a four-year contract position opening in January 2009, I am looking without panic, with all due diligence, at the quality of candidates.
Major firms know you hire for attitude and train for skills. I’d rather have a less-seasoned leader of integrity and courage than a skilled bureaucRat in charge.
Any employer knows it’s easier to hire than fire. Moral trajectory—CHARACTER—counts.
And on this National Day of Prayer, I pray that eyes and ears and hearts will be open to the principles that made America great.
Fred is not “officially” in the race at this time.
The future president will be on television tonight, in a Law & Order rerun on TNT.
I am looking at this debate as a job interview for Fred Thompson’s Vice President. Expect him to announce once shortly after the last show of the season for Law & order, the last week of May.

Just for fun, I’ll throw this in every 100 posts or so. ;)
I’m not so sure I’ll even watch.
It’s on MSNBC and Hissy Matthews is the so called “MODERATOR”...he’s a left wing shill, Bush-GOP Hater so why bother watching?
Brit Hume should be moderating.
I don’t think ANY of those will be POTUS...Maybe McInsane...but FRED needs to stand up and get into it before it is too late.
How about asking them “would you be willing to be Fred Thompson’s VP?”
Hah!
Not only can you submit a question, you can direct it to a particular candidate...hehehe.
That’s a good point, it should be Brit.
That coincides with some of the rumors I’ve read that he’ll announce at the beginning of summer.
If Fred Thompson is going to enter the race, he really needs to get in soon. I can understand waiting a bit to let some of the current candidates beat each other up a bit, but waiting too late could make it difficult to make up the head-start.
Who's bringing the beer? A pitcher of margaritas, perhaps?
Mr Barnard (shouting) What do you want?
Man : Well I was told outside ...
Mr Barnard : Don't give me that you snotty-faced heap of parrot droppings!
Man: What!
Mr Barnard: Shut your festering gob you tit! Your type makes me puke! You vacuous toffee-nosed malodorous pervert!
Man : Look! I came here for an argument.
Mr Barnard :(calmly) Oh! I'm sorry, this is abuse.
Man : Oh I see, that explains it.
Mr Barnard : No, you want room 12A next door.
