I have had some personal experience with him and I don’t get that from him. I think your attributing too much malice to him.

I like Brownback, but he doesn’t seem to be gaining any traction. Fred Thompson hasn’t gotten in. I like Newt, too. I enjoy Ron Paul, but don’t think he’d really work too well as “chief executive” of our Republic in the 21st century.

I like Rudy because he cleaned up NYC and understands the GWOT. I was impressed by his book, “Leadership.” Don’t like his positions on abortion and guns, but nobody’s perfect.

Agreeing to allow Chris Matthews to moderate the debate? Insanity

It has nothing to do with appeasing the left. It is smart business to get FREE ADVERTISING for your campaign by letting a news organizations pay for the air time.

The level of discourse around here has jumped dramatically in the last week or two.

It's going to take years to build back up again, though. Part of that is due to the prevailing mindset espoused by the GOP going back to Bush senior: party power over anything, including principles.

If we want a GOP that reminds us of Ronald Reagan, we need to get back to principles first. Because it wasn't like that for the past 20 years, we have a lot of Republican citizens who aren't used to using their noodles anymore.

This is what irks me the most about people who try to say Carry_Okie isn't conservative. He doesn't sound like the old GOP, but that's good.

Holding out for a judicial solution on a national level is just too, too RAT’ish.

Would you say the same if the subject was slavery?

(BTW, abortion is worse.)

Thanks for the update, have been away from the computer and television all day. I am not one bit surprised the news would be slanted to make him shine.

“I really want someone in office who will stand up to their lies and distortions.”

A very good point, but is early on in the sorting process a good time to have the candidates’ messages distorted by the likes of Chris Matthews? Why didn’t they just hire Rosie O’Donnell for the debate - it’s makes about the same amount of sense.

For the Republican candidates to have accepted someone like Chris Matthews as moderator validates this kind of gotcha journalism from the left. Remember, the Dem candidates won’t even appear on Fox.

This kind of lefty-driven circus (Matthews as moderator) only serves to marginalize and trivialize Republicans.
