US SOLDIERS stumbled on a plot to turn a girls school in Iraq into an "absolute death trap" by rigging it with explosives while it was being built.
"It was truly just an incredibly ugly, dirty kind of vicious killing that would have gone on here by al-Qaeda," Major General William Caldwell said in an interview with CNN.
No one has taken responsibility for the plot.
Maj-Gen Caldwell said US soldiers discovered the explosives this week when they spotted detonating wire across the street from the school and followed it to its source inside the building.
The general said it was "obviously a sophisticated premeditated attempt to inflict just massive casualties on our most innocent victims - young children, girls in this case."
"We found artillery shells that were being literally built into the ceiling. We found artillery shells again all hooked up with wires being built into the floors.
"We found propane tanks, two very large propane tanks built into the floors under the stair wells. "Somebody had clearly taken and planned to take this school, a place of learning for these young children and turn it into an absolute death trap," he said.
Pentagon officials said they had no information about the plot.
CNN identified the school as the Huda Girls School, which was under construction in the town of Tarmiya, north of Baghdad. Caldwell said the school was in a predominantly Shi'ite area.
Maj-Gen Caldwell said the Iraqi contractors who were building the school were being investigated.
Bravo to our Troops! They are doing an excellent job!
Geez!
al-Queda has seen “Loose Change”.
turn these ‘contractors’ over to the parents of the girls who would have been in the school and walk away.
On 28 February a train with Hindu devotees coming from the disputed site was set alight by a gang of Muslim youths. 58 Hindus were burnt alive. This sparked off Hindu reprisals against Muslims in which more than six hundred people died both sides.
And it reminds me of Sept 11, 2001, and the World Trade Towers falling down.
Let’s not judge the terrorists though. They’re just human beings too! We are just as bad sometimes....
I could barf when I realize how many Americans really believe this.
So they just got lucky, dontcha know? Bias, what bias?
These things are not human. They are worse than cockroaches and need to be exterminated with prejudice.
Jihadis are scared of a bunch of girls? We already know that 10-year-old girls are much tougher than any highly trained jihadi.

And of education.
There's a recent story of a Saudi woman with a Ph.D. publishing very reasoned arguments on how the current manner of treatment of women is against Islam. She's stirring up trouble.
Educated people don't make for a very good slave class. It must be stopped.
Wait until our folks pull out of there. Blood will flow in rivers. The Iraqis who threw in with us are DEAD MEN WALKING!
It’s Vietnam redux.
Thank you Harry Reid, et al.
US soldiers STUMBLED on a plot to turn a girls school in Iraq into an “absolute death trap” by rigging it with explosives while it was being built.

Even in success our soldiers are denigrated. I would have preferred the phrase “thwarted a plot” to “stumbled on a plot.” A small thing perhaps, but it just got to me.
Yeh, they’re just human beings too. They just have a different way of looking at the world — as something to be destroyed, in the name of their moon god.
“Wait until our folks pull out of there. Blood will flow in rivers. The Iraqis who threw in with us are DEAD MEN WALKING!
Its Vietnam redux.”
I don’t think this is going to happen this time. It’s been discussed too much (even in the MSM, imagine!)and the Dems don’t want the blood on their hands either. I think the American people are smarter than given credit for - those that can read at least. I was very encouraged by the recent poll showing a solid majority in favor of staying the course in Iraq.
What the Dems HAVE done, though, is forced us to attack Iran. An Iran faced with a united, determined and very dangerous United States was manageable. An Iran confident that the United States is a paper tiger and which possesses the intent and means to manufacture atomic bombs is not.
I feel that President Bush has no choice (given the uncertainties of the upcoming elections) but to pull Iran’s teeth - and that means a massive bombing campaign taking out nuclear facilities, Iran’s military, command/control/communications facilities, and government buildings/officials. With the current crop of precision weapons tremendous damage could be inflicted with virtually no losses.
An ultimatum could then be issued stating that unless Iran was willing to come to terms, its oil facilities would be destroyed. Faced with losing it’s only source of hard currency for rebuilding, I don’t think Iran would have much choice.
The dynamics of the upcoming election will be far different than most think, IMNSHO.
Waiting...waiting...waiting...for NOW to rush to the microphones to loudly denounce this latest outrage against their sisters in the Middle East..waiting...waiting...
