Not that I trust them anyway but it’s about time they pretended to do something.

Chinas has detained an executive of one of two companies accused of selling contaminated wheat gluten to pet-food suppliers in the United States.
Yeah, it was all his fault...

"China reportedly has begun inspections..."Too little/too late. What was the last pet death count? As I recall, over 2,000 dogs and 1,800 cats.
So China, no need to rush this one at all...
All food products from China should be banned until we are completely satisfied all of their food products are safe. Periodic inspections should be imposed as well, at China's expense.

OK....so they’ll inspect it and send it over here anyway. Big deal. Close the border to all China’s products. This is gettin crazy. I just looked for some good work boots and they are just about all made in China. Aren’t worth the leather they are made of. Ariat is now making them over there....stop buying Ariat’s and see what happens.

China doesn’t have a functioning FDA, OSHA, etc., etc. They don’t have to worry about the safety of their products. American companies do.
But hey! it’s globalism and competitive advantage that counts, right? So send all our manufacturing capacity overseas and import the cheap products. Lowest cost is all that matters, right?

(Chinese inspector): We have investigated your food products, and have found traces of melamine.
(Chinese food exporter): Oh, then I will recall the food.
(Chinese inspector): No need to do that...just add MORE melamine and we will certify it for export to the US.
