Any country that trades with the US should have to abide by the same rules & regs as American businesses do. If you read the whole article, you will find that counterfeit glycerin (ie, the poison diethylene glycol) has been distributed around the world since at least 1992. Why haven’t we heard about it previously? Why hasn’t anything been done about it? Why do we let China stonewall us without consequences?
I am reading “The World Is Flat” by Thomas Friedman (a liberal, I know, but this book is good). I am only part way through, but so far I would call it a primer on globalization. Offshoring, outsourcing, etc-—much of it made possible by our dot.com industries spreading fiber optic cable under the oceans to India, China, etc. before many of them went broke. The Indians and the Chinese believe that the “flat world” will result in their countries eventually surpassing the US-—because they are now learning our technology, business procedures and also because they are more ambitious and their education systems are better. (I’m not necessarily saying they’re right; I’m just telling you what they think.)
It’s frightening, but we need to know about it and deal with it.

Well said and I see our kids being told they are great and have high self esteem but are not being challenged in school like other countries. Wake up America !! The way to high self esteem is by achievement !
What disappoints me the most is that only one Congressman (Duncan Hunter, FYI) is talking about China in a negative light.
