Auto-theism, the real atheism.
Atheists are largely ignorant of the implications of their forms of atheism, which is basically just a radical form of individualism. Auto-theism well expresses this feeling—and it is mainly feeling. Atheists since Dawrwin have been trying to undermine the religious basis of this society while expecting the society to survive, to follow along the progressive lines they we see. But underlying progressivism is the Judeo-Christian notion that we ARE moving forward, that we are not doomed to repeat history and that the movement of history is not circular. It is not secret that since the Enlightenement men have anandoned the hope of heaven and devoted themslves to creating an earthly paradise. Yet the very same crowd constantly produces prophets of doom whose reall message that mankjind is doomed. We hear about life destroying
asteroids, of looming starving owing to population, of the evil effects of glocal warming, of plagues that threaten the extinction of mankind. What hear more than anything else is the message that no one should hope for anything except a personally comfortable existence and a painless and conveveniently timed death. In other words, the same message of fear and death that was the message of ancient paganism. No wonder people do not reproduce. They have no hope.
