We’re about the same on the civilization scale. The only difference being that their crackpots gather into ‘mobs’, while our gather into groups like Code Pink and Peta.

Do you remember hearing of riots after a US election?

Okay, TWO differences. Our riots happen after court cases or unpopular police actions.

Thanks. I couldn’t recall one after an election. The idea sounds bizarre to my sensibilities.

Well, most polls show Sarko with a commanding lead going into tomorrow’s elections. I sincerely hope that those poll results are translated into vote totals.

Yeah, “Reign of Sarkozy” sounds kinda like a metal or prog rock band.

Unless you count Gore’s hissy fit after his defeat a riot, then no, I can’t think of one either.

Either a band name or a brand on cognac. I like it as a band name better, though.

Bingo! Royal is not predicting violence. She is calling for a violent response when she loses.

Still celebrating May Day in Paris? Good grief. Bunch of nostalgic Stalinists.

Now, one of our neighbors here in Vermont threw a barbecue this evening to commemorate Cinco de Mayo—the victory of Mexican forces led by General Ignacio Zaragoza Seguín over French forces in the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862.

Excellent Margaritas were served.

It was also a warning to Nicolas Sarkozy, the reform-minded conservative candidate for the presidency, of the trouble that may lie in wait for him if he wins the presidential election today and embarks on ambitious plans for modernising a country badly in need of renewal and disillusioned with its ruling elite...The left is simply not capable of participating in democratic government - they see themselves as being so intellectually and morally superior to anyone who does not agree with their view of the world that they feel insulted and resentful when such people are actually given authority over them - and that they should not have to submit to such authority - it becomes their right and duty to resist by virtually any means, doncha know......

‘’The left is simply not capable of participating in democratic government - they see themselves as being so intellectually and morally superior to anyone who does not agree with their view of the world that they feel insulted and resentful when such people are actually given authority over them ‘’..........That disease of the left is called ‘’elitism’’ To me its the height of arrogance, and thats why when the left loses an election in this country they scream and shout, that the voting machines were rigged, and the evil Republicans cheated, etc. .....But when they win ...all is quiet ,because of course, everyone agrees with their side, and how they see things in the world ,so all is fine!

“People accuse me of encouraging public anger. But who’s angry – the yobs? The drug traffickers? I can assure you: I do not seek to be the friend of yobs. My aim is not to make myself popular among the traffickers and the fraudsters.”

Hear, hear! You are not a Socialist Democrat, Messr Sarkozy! And for that, the world will be a better place.
