How in the world was proposing a soccer game going to “engage the muslims to change their values..”?

If “the men of peace” want to do something constructive, they need to go ahead with the conference and insist that women be present for it.

Sorry, I’m with the Imams on this one.

You can’t play men against girls in this situation, either the girls would get severely injured, or the men would have to “play soft” just to ensure women weren’t hurt, in which case, the game, as a contest, is meaningless

I’m with you, I can’t imagine paying a physical contact sport against the other sex.

I don’t see why they couldn’t have men and women in a recreational game of soccer. I don’t know much about soccer, but is soccer really supposed to be a contact sport? I know it happens, but when it gets really physical, I thought they called fouls or drew cards or something?

I wouldn’t apply this to professional soccer, but a rec game?
Like I said, I don’t know. Could someone enlighten me?

It’s soccer — the sport of whiny girly men — where pretending to get hurt is the only way to get a goal. Of course, that makes it the perfect sport for Eurosocialists to play against Islamic cowards.

You know, my son is a US Marine. He plays soccer on a team with other US Marines. The US Marines actually have a soccer league. I'm sure he and the other "whiny girly men" on his team would be quite happy to talk to you about how cowardly they are. Since they play against other branches of the service, perhaps when you're done explaining to the Marines why they're "girly men" you can explain it to the Army, Air Force, Navy, and Coast Guard.

Just so I don’t get sucked into this (well-deserved) tongue lashing, I’d like to say that I never said anything negative about soccer. I find it incredibly boring, but.. LOL

I have the suspicion you are thinking about American Football.
This story happened in Oslo, so I guess it is about Soccer.

What a wonderful illustration contrasting Christianity and Islam. Christianity is inclusive. Islam is intolerant.

Well, that and they behead and stone people and perform clitorectomies...

I didn’t realize that they were talking about soccer, I play soccer with my granddaughter and she whips me.

Not playing girls, they say? Funny, I’ve often read that an unfortunate number of Imams, Mullahs, and other authority figures in Muslim madrassahs often force certain male students to “play girl” late at night.

It leads to special feelings that can lead to something forbidden," imam Senaid Kobilica told NRK public television in explanation.
Once again we're shown that Islamic men have no desire or ability to control their own lustful nature and thoughts. And naturally it would be the women's fault that such "special feelings" came about.
Every day men around the world control their lustful nature and thoughts yet these "paragons of virtue" can't control their thoughts from merely touching a woman during a sporting event?
They act like they're in a perpetual rut.

The only physical sport I can think of that would be ridiculous between men and women for a good time would be real football. That's why girls/women hardly ever play it. Soccer, and Hockey are both considered contact sports, but the sexes can have plenty of fun playing them together. You just legislate the physical part out. I'm guessing soccer for females might have an equivalent to no-check rules, but maybe it's such a pansy-assed activity anyway, that it isn't necessary

At its heart here, the controversy isn't over physical mismatches or danger to anybody. It is about male feelings of sexual inadequacy common in a certain culture that has resulted in comical oppression (if that's possible) of women. You know what Mr. Imam? What do you bet that most of your women desperately long to ditch you and your hang ups, stash the potato sack, and be loved and ravaged by a western man who isn’t afraid of a little ankle?

You should be proud. Thank him for his service, but that's not a fair argurment. If your son liked to play Barbie dolls and polish his nails with other US Marines after kicking Taliban butt, would that mean it wasn't girly behavior?

All the guy is saying is that the sport's defensive nature, and the fact the one of the few ways people have found to actually score is to dramatize falls and act hurt to get penalty kicks, makes it easy to poke fun at. Real men don't fake injuries.

Besides, I bet LenS could make short work of your son and his Marine soccer pals with one hand behind his back. Right LenS?

I’m with the imans on this one. In the first place, women shouldn’t be priests, so they shouldn’t even be on the team.

I'd like to see you go three rounds with Laila Ali -- I doubt you would "play soft."

It’s soccer, not football. The only problem the women might have is their possibly slower speed. Only problem I see with having the women play is that they’re “priests.”

Exactly. Anyone who’s watched the World Cup has certainly seen the lame-o players drop to the ground with the slightest contact and clutch their leg, grimacing with “pain.”

Don’t you think that whomever organized this game might have foreseen this coming?

Well, yes, they could have.

The things that could be avoided with just a little thinking.

The female priests should have donned burkas and sat, strictly segregated, among the spectators.

Better yet, if they dared to show up in soccer shorts, they should have been stoned to death as a gesture of ecumenical goodwill.

Yes, a little thinking could have avoided this easily.

The military has a long history of supporting sports which don't pose a high risk of injury. They want the troops to be available, not in the hospital.
