I think it would be reasonable to scrap the soccer match and instead do mud wrestling.

#26 says in a high pitched voice: “Now I know why they call this game football”.

The things that could be avoided with just a little thinking.

The prrpose was "a soccer match meant to foster understanding "

Don't they better understand each other now?

You left out the best quote of the article !

These Islamist don't want to live in the 21st century, they are living in the 8th century and wanting to drag the rest of the world back with them.

I dunno. I guess I come out in favor of male-female bodily contact. :)

How the heck do these people manage to reproduce???

Whiny girly men?

That would be American Football where they wear butt hugging spandex and shoulder pads, makeup on their faces, have to wear helmets to protect their looks, and carry little towelettes to keep their fingernails clean.

Soccer is played in EVERY country worldwide, it’s not a “socialist” sport. In fact, in soccer, they have competitive leagues where if you come bottom of the league there are consequences - you get relegated, Unlike American football that practices socialism through draft pick equalisation and not keeping score.

That’s right, American Football doesn’t keep score, no team ever gets demoted, you can even win their “World Championship” after having a losing season!

Oh, and ever wondered how you can be WORLD Champions of the NATIONAL Football League ???

American Football is a scam, it’s an entertainment, not a sport.

"Some say that bodily contact is the problem. It leads to special feelings that can lead to something forbidden," imam Senaid Kobilica told NRK

Yeah, nothing like a sliding tackle to get the ol' libido going.

It’s worth pointing out that this situation would not have occured in congregations where women are not allowed to be priests.

You can’t play men against girls in this situation,

It was to be a game among adults, not "men against girls." And who says it has to be a fricking death match anyway? This wasn't exactly going to be the World Cup, after all.

It just underscores how primitive the moslems are when it comes to human civilization. The perverts can't even play soccer without thinking about raping their opponents.

American Football is a scam, it’s an entertainment, not a sport.

Excuse me, but I believe the entire point of spectator sports is to be entertaining. You can claim by some twisted definition that leagues that don't kick out bad teams don’t play a real sport. But what you will never be able to claim with a strait face is that soccer is entertainment. It’s just not, unless watching hooligans brawl is your idea of entertainment.

For some reason large masses of Europeans, Asians, and Latins like to sing in unison for ninety some minutes while absolutely nothing happens in front of them. The fact that the entire rest of the world loves this ridiculously slow and eventless game, and we don’t, is proof positive that we’ve got something on them. It’s part of the reason people wish to leave their homeland and come here.

I’ve given this sport a chance. It’s regularity on a Fox channel I get. I sometimes leave it on when I’m doing other things to see if something happens. Once I recall a game, between Germany and Italy, I believe in the World Cup. One or the other team actually scored a late goal to win the game. A rare event like that probably happens once a year or so worldwide.

I saw some English league game the other day where the play-by-play guy mentioned that one of the teams had tied something like 17 out of 21 games this season, most of them scoreless ties. And American football isn’t a sport?

Actually, the fact that you believe soccer to be a “defensive” sport shows a lack of understanding on your part. And yes, I believe it IS a fair argument. Playing Barbie’s and painting nails is a far cry from running up and down a field for 90 minutes. Then again, if they were “playing” with the Barbie’s by using them for target practice, I’d say no that isn’t girly behavior.

Nor is one of the “few” ways to score a goal by “falling down”. Most goals are scored by moving the ball up the field and putting it into the net. But since each goal isn’t worth 7 points and there aren’t beer commercials every 10 minutes most Americans don’t take the time to understand the game.

However, one does get to a free shot on goal when they are fouled, kind of like a basketball player getting a couple of foul shots. As for Len making short work of my son, I have no idea who he is so perhaps he could or couldn’t, that hardly matters. My son’s an American, he proudly serves his country and he loves soccer. He’s loved it since he was 5 years old. He’s built like a brick *ithouse and decidedly NOT “girly”. He also has a black belt in Karate, a sport developed and cultivated in a rather imperialist/socialist nation. I suppose that makes him a “girly man” as well, since it’s NOT an “American” sport either.

The military has a long history of supporting sports which don't pose a high risk of injury. They want the troops to be available, not in the hospital.

Wow the ignorance on this thread is stunning. Currently, my son (while still playing mind you) is recovering from a cracked rib, suffered while merely "practicing" with his other team mates. Over the years, we've had broken arms, sprained ankles, concussions, head and arm gashes requiring stitches because he's gotten cleated by a goalie or some defender when scoring (or attempting to) a goal. From the time he started playing at a serious level there has been at least one trip to the emergency room per season. Hardly the mark of a "safe" sport.

And 9/11 would not have happened if America did not exist.

In either case, we are talking about Islam’s fundamental problem letting others live and let live. I may be against homosexuality and think homosexuals are mistaken, for example, but as a Christian, I don’t advocate cutting their heads off.

It’s soccer, not football.

It's football, in it's purest and original form. (a BALL controlled with the FOOT)

As opposed to American Football (or more accurately "Egg throwing") which is a derivative of Rugby Football, which is itself a derivative of Football, the game to which I referred.

The World governing body of Football is FIFA "Federation International de Football Associations" - so as you see, every country in the World calls it Football.

Therefore it is extremely arrogant to think that America's little domestic second derivative of the game should pre-empt the ownership of the original game's name.

But what you will never be able to claim with a strait face is that soccer is entertainment. It’s just not,..

As is born out by it's world dominance as a spectator sport...There were about 10,000 professional Soccer matches this weekend, as there are every weekend - can't say I've heard of any hooliganism anywhere...And guess what. they average over 3 goals per game. if you want a sport where nothing happens you can't beat American Football...THREE Hours to play out a ONE hour clock (can you do the math?) -and of that one hour clock there is actual play action for an accumulation of 12-15 minutes!

So for two hours and 45 minutes of the three hours absolutely NOTHING is happening unless you like TV advertising or watching a clock run down..

Can there be a more damning indictment of the boredom factor of a sport than the fact that most people watch the Superbowl because of the TV ADS!
