"United Against Gun Violence," a rally and candlelight vigil honoring victims of gun violence, will be held Monday, May 14.
The event, scheduled to go from 6 to 8 p.m., is hosted by the Mercer County Million Mom March Chapter of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence. May 14 will be the seventh anniversary of the original Million Mom March on Washington, D.C., to demand sensible gun laws.
James Brady, a former White House press secretary, was seri ously wounded as a result of an as sassination attempt on President Ronald Reagan in 1981.
This is the fifth time in seven years that this event will be held in Trenton, according to Carole Stiller, president of the Mercer County Million Mom March Chapter and president of the New Jersey Million Mom March Chapters of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence.
The event is set for the front steps of City Hall in Trenton. There will be speakers, entertainment, light refreshments and activities for children.
Students of all ages are invited to bring, e-mail or mail poems or artwork remembering all students who have been killed in school shootings. These will be posted during the vigil and displayed on the NJ Million Mom March Web site, www.mmmnj.org, beginning Friday.
A Wall of Remembrance will be displayed and everybody is invited to bring items to be placed on it. People have brought poems and pictures in the past, according to Stiller.

These women need to rally against violent criminals, not gun ownership. They’re very misguided.
“The event, scheduled to go from 6 to 8 p.m., is hosted by the Mercer County Million Mom March Chapter of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence. May 14 will be the seventh anniversary of the original Million Mom March on Washington, D.C., to demand sensible gun laws”.
Two quick questions:Were there ever a million moms in the first place, and why not use “new” or “more stringent” in place of the word “sensible”?
But the Liberal politicians who grovel for those $$$'s from the gun grabbers know EXACTLY what an unarmed populace can do for them.
'cause they probably spent a couple hundred thou to focus-group that particular choice of wording to hide their true agenda.
And, this crap will continue so long as there is so much money, power, and propaganda pushing to remove the basic human rights of free people. Note the front page NY Times article stating that an individual rights interpretation of the second amemdment would have been “unimaginable” a few decades ago when all law scholars would have believed the second amendment applied only to the states’ right to maintain a militia. Such a black-and-white lie on the front page of one of the most widely distributed and quoted news organs in the world is astonishing and infuriating, in part, because it promotes an agenda with misinformation—no different than the old Soviet Pravda.
In truth, a collective rights interpretation was a recent concoction used as one of several tactics to achieve a socialist gun ban. Other tactics include appointing judges with the lack of professional integrity to apply rather than distort the law, marches of unintelligent, poorly informed, and emotional people agitated by loudmouthed leftist celebrities, tacking restcictions onto needed legislation, creating simple distorting Goebbels-inspired phrases to confuse the issues, media and entertainment messages stereotyping gunowners, media and entertainment images of gun acts that defy physics, information in schools that distort knowledge of arms or that block arms safety information so as to give the impression that owning or using arms is bad, and others.
The truth has taken a long holiday and needs to be put forth clearly and repeatedly in the widest possible manner. Americans’ freedoms and safety desparately require it.
Your post inspired me to change the Thomas Jefferson quote in my tag line.
