Drudge Report ^ | 6 May 07 | Andrew Buncombe - Matt Drudge

There was an almost audible sigh of relief in parts of America's capital this weekend after a TV network said it would not reveal the identities of scores of clients of the alleged "DC madam" because they were not well enough known to be "newsworthy".

ABC News said that, having ploughed through 46lbs of phone records, it had discovered that among the clients of Deborah Palfrey's alleged prostitution ring were senior business executives, Nasa officials and at least five military officers. And among the women working for Ms Palfrey - who ran the network in Washington DC from her home in California - were an instructor at the US Naval Academy and a legal secretary at a prominent law firm. The secretary was suspended after telling her bosses she worked for Ms Palfrey "for spa money".

They were threatened by a DC attorney who told them that if they revealed the name of his client, he would file a huge lawsuit. They backed down, and the attorney never named his client, nor did ABC. It could have been a bluff by the attorney — maybe his name is on the list! LOL!

Rosie O’Donnell was probably a client.

I heard her codename for phone sex was "Fire Melts Steel."

LOL, you beat me to it! And if someone leaked the names of those Dem clients, why, we'd know his face and all the details of his/her personal life, right down to the 5th grade class trip to the zoo! And if there were no 'prominent' Republicans on the list, just dems, it wouldn't even be news...

SkyPilot, you and I are on the same wavelength.
For weeks I've been saying "the only reason the names of these clients
haven't already clogged TV and the internet must be: all Democrats
and left-wing Republicans."

Of course, the TV poohbahs may be waiting for the next "sweeps" week.
(I'm blissfully ignorant of when those occur!)

They were threatened by a DC attorney who told them that if they revealed the name of his client, he would file a huge lawsuit. They backed down, and the attorney never named his client, nor did ABC.

I think that contributed to it - but I believe there were some names of Democrats, or names in the MSM that ABC didn't want released.

They released one name - that of a Bush Admin political appointee. No one else. Tobias was someone that 99.99999999% of American never heard of, and he is ultimately forgettable.

He was the biggest fish they could fry to try to embarrass Bush and/or Republicans in DC.

I am sure there were Democrats on the list, but ABC must have been sorely disappointed that after scouring 46 lbs of phone records - there were no more Republicans to destroy.

So ABC threw in the towel and consoled themselves with destroying one man appointed by a Republican.
