And that is why Fred gave him that little dig.

He doesn’t hate to campaign when he gets to call the shots. When he decided to take over his own campaign, he turned it around in three months, from a huge losing position to winning the highest number of votes in Tennessee history.

...envisioned Thompson as the second coming of Ronald Reagan

Ugghhhh!!! If I hear this one more time....

These media lemmings drive me up a wall!!!!

Fred Thompson IS NOT Ronald Reagan and WILL NEVER BE Ronald Reagan. SO GET USED TO IT!!!!

Fred Thompson IS Fred Thompson and that's FINE by me!

OK, so he's not an inspirational orator like RWR or JFK. But he does have a special down-home no-nonsense trustworthiness that none of the other candidates have. He reminds me of characters like Andy Griffith or Ward Cleaver. Not fiery speakers, but definitely the type of men most Americans (unless you are a moonbat leftist) would love to see running the country.

All this reminds me of a story.

I’ll give the rated G version...........

“Two bulls are standing on a hill. Off in the distance, they see a group of cows.
The young bull excitedly nudges the old bull and says, “Hey! Hey! I know! Let’s run over there and kiss one of those cows!”
The old bull looks at the young bull, then turns and takes a long look at the cows. He turns back to the young bull and says, “Son, let’s walk over there and kiss ‘em all.”

I saw a little bit of the speech and thought it was good but he sounded a little hum drum...not really enthusiastic like Rudy and Romney. I only heard about 5 minutes though.

He’s running and will announce in June. He has more or less said as such if you listen.

“...and not about Iraq”

Yes, but now Nancy and Harry keep saying GWB is out of touch with the American people who spoke in November about Iraq. Scandal and corruption aren’t that important now because Nancy/Harry might be implicated if these hearings/investigations get too in depth.

Oh, that’s right, her husband was and Harry and his sons were, weren’t they ... so many scandals, just can’t remember them all.

JFK gave one great speech, and he didn’t even write that one. My guess is that Thompson wrote his own speech. Reagn could and did write his own speeches, but he could also deliver that of another writer. But Thompson definitely has an authentic voice. Romney is coming xlose to finding his. I suggest, more of that humor. The idiot reporters will keep sending those dumb questions. Learn to throw them back at them but with the same kind of ease you used with the Catholic boshops question. Take a few lessons from Tony Snow.

He has said he's going to wrap up a few loose ends, take a the family on a 2 week vacation, and make his final decision, before he announces.

People think he's just politicking when he says "the man must be right for the times and be able to offer something that others can't". He's said that several times now.

I would much rather he took his time and made a good decision, than rush into making a bad one.

If he runs, whoopee! If not, I'm sure most of us will support Duncan or Mitt with as much enthusiasm and excitement as we have FRed. I know I could get behind Duncan.

My money is on FRed running and becoming the next POTUS. :)

:O)

Novak is trying to remain relevant. It’s sad to see him so far out of the loop.

FDT joked he wanted to talk to a film producer in the audience about getting a job if ‘this whole thing with poitics doesn’t work out’. What that means is he is going to run when he gets sufficient backing. So far he has a lot of backing outside of California and I suspect he wants some key backers from California. I hope we hear soon that he has them.

There’s a copy circulating online. Check the whole thing out.

There’s also a great interview on breitbart.tv where Fred answers a few more questions. Both are worth seeing IMHO.

Fred Thompson has specific commitments to keep. Until those commitments are final he won’t be making any official announcements I’m certain.

There is also the possibility of Fred Thompson making a decision NOT to run for President should something better happen for his life. Wouldn’t be a good idea to “Campaign” as though he were certain to announce and then let all down would it.

There’s plenty of time yet. Fred Thompson seems to think so. Patience is a virtue.

He's not going to be able to run a viable campaign for president from the comfort of a barcalounger.

Perhaps he's preparing to run a "front porch" campaign à la William McKinley or Warren Harding.

Novak is rooting for McCain .. and he’ll probably do whatever he can to taint Fred. Fred doesn’t owe Novak anything and Fred has no obligation to accomodate Novak for any reason. Fred already said on Hannity that it would probably be the end of May before he made his decision. It’s probably about waiting until his contract is over for the Law and Order program.

Personally, I still blame Novak for the Skooter Libby fiasco. Novak knew the truth and refused to print it .. but like the rest of the liberals he will spill anything about any repub if it makes them look bad.

So Fred didn’t announce and Novak didn’t get the scoop! Too damn bad! That’s the way the cookie crumbles.
