But I totally believe that the single biggest reason the media pushes Romney is because the media perceives him as ultimately doomed as a presidential candidate. The media believes that the GOP base (evangelical Christians) will not turn out for a Mormon, and so the media desperately wants a Mormon to be our nominee.
I happen to like Romney well enough, and I would not have a problem voting for him. But I like Hunter and Thompson a lot better.
Actually, it is looking more like the DNC and their media sycophancy are now certain they can accentuate the negatives regarding the huge differences in Mormonism and Christianity, thereby dividing conservatives and suppressing conservative and moderately conservative turnout in ‘08. This process of divide and conquer over Romney’s religion will not start in earnest until he gets the nomination, if he gets it. The DNC is seeking any means to smear religious conservatism so their brand of religious posturing will win the day, ideologically. It has little or nothing to do with God or obedience to God’s leading. If evangelicals cannot be made to tow the liberal lines, they will be marginalized and eliminated from the activism effect.
