Thanks for sharing. I do not regret voting for W twice and still feel he is the best man for the Presidency right now.

I really do not understand the hatred directed at the President - I think he is a good man who has the best interest of this country at heart.

I agree with you. I do not regret voting for W twice and would do it again. I pray we get more people like him in political office and in business. People with values!

"What is unique about our time and space is that, for the first time ever, the *losers* are being allowed to write the history books."

And as long as conservatives/republicans allow the left to define both terms and subject matter of debate they will continue to do so.

I’ll differ with this article on one count.

W did lead us to believe that we were going to give the terrorist world a Texas ass whooping. What we got was politically correct warplanning and touchy feely rules of engagement.

But to be fair, he never said he wanted decent border control, so I guess you can’t blame him for that.

QUESTION: If the President makes 1,000 speeches defending his policies/the war and the MSM choses to either ignore or mischaracterize these speeches, has the President countered the ‘lies’ or not?

No it means he cannot convincingly explain himself if he has to do 1000. The real question is, if he has explained himself convincingly, why does the lie still exist? reagan had no problem taking his causes to the American people and bypassing the Press. Worked for him, but Bush does not do that. He makes no primetime speeches. He talks to VFW or other groups, but not to the country as a whole.

How would he counter the lies and slander? What would be his venue of choice?

Would he address the nation every night on national television? Seems to me he would spend all of his productive time awake countering the 24/7 vitriole spewed in his direction. Is that his role as President?

I get the impression that W is a pretty busy guy. I doubt he considers his detractors worthy of a minute of his time. I sure wouldn't.

Ultimately his deeds, his actions, his decisions on matters of importance will be all that matter, not who won the foodfight. Wasting valuable time responding to fools would accomplish nothing but make the fools think they're getting to him, heighten their sense of self-importance. Why bother? Why give them any sastifaction?

Actually it's far better than it used to be.

Imagine if today there were no conservative talk radio, no conservative publishing houses, no FoxNews Channel, no Free Republic, no Washington Times or Weekly Standard.

It used to be that way. Today conservatives have a fighting chance, we have more ways to shape history than ever before.

REALITY CHECK: PRESIDENT RONALD REAGAN . . .

Per Gallup, President Reagan experienced sub-par job approval ratings (30s/40s) for much of his presidency.

In fact, by 1987, 60% of Republicans/conservatives indicated that they DEFINITELY wanted a new direction and, even if it were possible, would NOT vote for President Reagan again!

By 1993, 61% of Americans considered Reagan’s economic policies a FAILURE (Gallup)!

Yet at his funeral, President Reagan was lauded by Republicans and Democrats alike and is now considered one of the greatest presidents of all time! . . . I predict the same result for President George W Bush!

For more insight (and several REALITY CHECKS), please read the following editorial from COMMENTARY magazine:

IS CONSERVATISM FINISHED?
By Wilfred M. McClay

“. . . We also forget that the Reagan administration itself, far from being happily unified, was driven by internal battles between “pragmatists” and “ideologues,” conflicts that prefigured many of the policy battles of the present. And we forget that, outside the administration, REAGAN GOT PLENTY OF GRIEF FROM HIS OWN RIGHT AS WELL.”

You can read all about this ‘grief’ at
http://www.commentarymagazine.com/cm/main/viewArticle.aip?id=10812&page=all
-

BTW: DO YOU REMEMBER WHAT HAPPENED TO REAGAN AND HIS ADMINISTRATION IN 1987 AND MOST OF 1988?!

Well, I do; it was a nightmare! If you recall, Reagan was so politically and personally shaken by the Republican losses in the 1986 election cycle, the Iran-Contra scandal, and the Stock Market crash that the White House DRASTICALLY curtailed his public appearances (PARTICULARLY his press conferences).

Additionally, Reagan was ‘forced’ to make MULTIPLE changes in his cabinet (and White House staff):

CHANGES IN PRESIDENT REAGAN’S CABINET, 1987
—Carlucci replaced Casper Weinberger at Defense
—new Secretary of Commerce
—new Secretary of Labor
—new Secretary of Transportation
Shortly thereafter, Thornburgh replaced Meese at Justice to become Reagan’s THIRD Attorney General.

CHANGES IN PRESIDENT REAGAN’S WHITE HOUSE STAFF, 1987
— Donald Regan was replaced by Howard Baker as Reagan’s Chief of Staff. Baker was subsequently replaced by Ken Duberstein. In total, Reagan employed FOUR Chiefs of Staff!

It’s amazing how much George W Bush’s 2007 looks/feels like Ronald Reagan’s 1987!

I just realized that I pronounce it nu-ku-lar too. I also say “filthy” and “Philadelthia”, and no I don't lisp normally! It’s just that after almost fifty years of saying a few things my own way I'm not going to stop now.

I havn't lost any trust in the office because of the current occupant. On the contrary, I believe President Bush has returned honor and dignity to the office, something he promised to do. Those two qualities of the office had been seriously damaged during the two terms of W's predecessor.

You say it's not a matter of what he thinks. I would say what he thinks matters a great deal. It's shapes his decisions and the course this nation embarks on. For the most part, I'm quite pleased with the course he's set.

I did. It was about Reagan, not your daydreaming comparison to Bush.

Bush should have never backed down on the 16 words in the SOTU speech. Once he backed down, he looked dishonest, and the rest of his Republican allies ran away. The media went crazy and the rest is history.

“anti-PR President and anti-yalie”

Fabulous article. Sums it up PERFECTLY!! I’ve been saying the reason Bush is so hated by the left is because he is the “anti-clinton”.
They can’t even tell you why they hate him. They just do.
I’m passing this article on to all of them.
