But they you can understand, sleeping with strangers in shelters and other places not knowing what is going on with their homes, they have the right to b#$%c all day long.
Thats true you have to watch out for them sneky hurricanes that hit Kansas.
On a side not I have been perusing on Google Earth places in Kansas that I know has national guard stuff and what struck me is the amount of equipment still at the KSNG yard on Ft Riley, part of it is empty but there is still a few hundred vehicles there.
As a related issue, I just wonder what the full mileage and day rate would be for some of the military equipment that the governor insists is so vital. It would be hard to imagine that it is less than the State Rate for renting a civilian vehicle of the same capacity.
Lastly, nothing stops the state from suspending some rules and hiring trucks and equipment from nearby farmers.
The governor’s complaint reeks of Bush bashing in camo.
Considering the wide array responders who can arrive from all over Kansas and from as far away as California or New York on short notice. (I worked as a FEMA volunteer after Katrina in New Orleans and was amazed at the quality and quantity of agencies from across the country responding to the disaster. Some of these groups and all their equipment was staged at the stadium before the storm hit and the levees broke. I heard on CNN that 12 percent of Kansas Guard is in Iraq, not half of it. WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO RESPOND TO A DEVASTATED HAMLET OF 1,500 people—The Army Corps of Engineers?
Governor Sebelius’ remarks are absurd but she is trying to deflect blame in anticipation of her office being criticized for sleeping at the switch. (Which may or may not be fair)
Fox News online adds to the lies by running this headline
“Kansas Governor: Iraq War
Slowed Twister Response”
How does reporting what the Kansas governor said, “add to the lies”?
.....know the general populace are easily dupped.....especially democrats.
Because reporting a lie without exposing it as such perpetuates the lie.
Additionally, Fox ran that sensationalist headline that lead to an AP article which only mentioned the governor’s comment in passing. The headline was completely contrived. I emailed them this morning and the headline has been changed, although the governor’s self-serving comment is still in the body of the article.
