Johnny Hallyday was supposed to show for Sarkozy’s speech on the Place de la Concorde, but never appeared, according to TV5. Apparently a big let-down for Sarko.

Artists are flaky. I don’t think it necessarily means anything. I’m sure Sarko was let down by Johnny Hallyday’s no-show, but I doubt he was greatly surprised.

They showed Johnny Hallyday and Laetitia chez Fouquet's at the post Election dinner.

from Le Figaro :

10.00 pm: Fouquet’s restaurant, a convivial refuge

Everyone wants to see the new President of the French Republic. Around 200 people carrying "Young People for Sarkozy" banners have broken through the CRS barriers around the roads leading to Fouquet’s, the famous brasserie on the Champs-Elysées. They all want to share a moment with Nicolas Sarkozy, who is there to relax before addressing his supporters who have gathered en masse at the Place de la Concorde where a giant concert is being held.

Johnny Hallyday, one of Nicolas Sarkozy’s loyalest supporters, personally congratulated the new head of state, as did Bernard Laporte, coach of the French rugby union team, TFI TV presenter Arthur, former football star Basile Boli, and Tour de France cyclist, Richard Virenque.

The atmosphere was calm yet cordial. In the background, a few Socialist supporters chant, "Ségo présidente!". But their hearts are not really in it.
