Didn't see him on TV, but Gen. Patreus' responses appear weak in the article. From the article:
"We can never sink to the level of the enemy," Petraeus said by video link from Baghdad. "We have done that at times in theater and it has cost us enormously" -- referring specifically to the torture and humiliation of prisoners at the Abu Ghraib facility west of Baghdad.
I wouldn't call the humiliation at Abu Ghraib anywhere close to sinking to the level of the enemy who beheads, tortures, blows up people. NOT CLOSE! That's quite disappointing even if you are pandering to Iraqis or the media.
It would be interesting to see these questions in context. Yes/No responses to such serious issues like, "Would you turn in a fellow Marine if they killed or wounded an innocent civilian" is useless information. Well, was it an accident, how seriously wounded are they, are you sure they were innocent (they don't wear uniforms), do you trust your immediate command to not railroad your buddy, etc.

I told my hubby last night that I would like to see the full text of the questions they asked. We all know how one little word can change the whole meaning of a poll question and elicit the response you’re digging for.
I did hear a slogan this AM from our local talk radio host - The Media Lied and Soldiers Died.
I’m going to start using that as my tag line.

If some hostile REMF is going to pick this exact moment in history to conduct such a survey, then make sure it's put in front of Petreaus to respond to publicly, you can bet your tornados there is language skewed against our guys in it.
I would surely love to see that paper trail.
