Here's a charming and informative place to view the effect of this storm on the NC coast.

The fires must be pretty bad. I’m here only 6 years, and this is the first time I have seen this in my area.

We are in a transition from El Nino to La Nina. This means that the upper winds caused by El Nino that blow across the Caribbean and Gulf from the Pacific which shear the tops of tropical storms will be diminishing. This will allow greater formation of tropical storms.

Nothing to do with Al Gore's global warming.

transition from ENSO-neutral to La Niña conditions is possible within the next 3 months

Doesn’t happen every year by any means, but it was bad in 2001, I believe...

This is, off course, off the topic of course, but how far north of the tropic does a typical non-tropical tropical depression have to get before it can’t become a typical tropical tropical depression or becomes a non-typical non-tropical tropical depressions?

If a non-typical non-tropical tropical depression gets over it, does it become a non-typical tropical high?

We’ve had some incredible surf in Indialantic, FL. With the wind out of the west today, it may actually give some good sufring conditions. Anyway, the Hurricane shutters were installed on the new condo last week.....bring it on. :D

The NHC has now issued 90L Invest, which usually means they think it might intensify. If named, it would be Andrea and she’s getting might close to Florida’s east coast:

No, I think it’s like a tattoo. Once it’s stuck with being tropical, then that’s it.

LOL, I’m waiting for our Gov to complain that we don’t have enough troops or equipment available to right it because of Iraq.

It was 57 deg. this am on the way into work. THat’s odd for mid-May. Plus it’s windy as heck. But we need the rain badly.
