I’m guessing that in this case lawsuits are gonna conquer all, and far as I’m concerned, the more and the more massive, the better.

At one point (i.e. the beginning of the ordeal) we were 100% with you. As the years went by, we were lucky to be standing with a roof over our heads. When it sunk in that this wasn’t just a “mistake” but the natural result of incompetence at so many levels, we became frightened — not for us (after all what more could they do) — but for all of you. After 4 years, we were at the end stages of “Just make it stop and go away.” That’s right before the stage where you sink a “For Sale” sign in the yard and move to 100 acres in the middle of nowhere and devolve into madness. This will take the course these people have the strength to pursue. Unfortunately, for Durham, the “marks” had really deep pockets and could fight back.

Almost looks like the whole leftist power structure at Duke could go down in flames in this one.

Not one mention on this thread of the person who started all this mess. Crystal Mangum.

Crystal needs to be prosecuted and put behind bars before any civil cases are heard.

I don’t care if they say she is crazy. That’s baloney. If she were really crazy they would take custody of her children. They haven’t.

Why do they continue to protect this prostitute? Who are they really protecting?

The whole thing has always been about black votes. Turn the picture around, i.e. have a psycho DA meet with klansmen and hammer out a deal involving an election for lynching three innocent blacks and then have the DA get elected with 95% of the white vote, and the FBI would be bang straight down on top of that faster than you could blink, like flies on ****.

“Who are they really protecting?”

Answer: Themselves and the “marks”. Do you believe for one moment the people who supported this woman would hesitate to opt for violence? The three families involved will address the proper criminals in this case — the D.A., the police and Duke. They were expected to be the line of defense against criminals, not co-conspirators or accomplices.

As an ironic note — our son was offered tuition-free studies at the Police Academy and a firm job offer by the county police where our little municipality transferred his case. It seems the “Jack the Ripper” case the county court believed it was going to prosecute has even fewer supporters than we imagined. We never cease to be amazed at the irony and vindication we are experiencing. Go figure.

What has happened to this country? So we pander to the violent thugs. Sick.

No, ma’am. It’s just like the first rule of police work, “At the end of your shift, you come home alive.”

Unless, and until, our law enforcement and court systems have the intestinal fortitude to stand up to bullies and thugs, we will all suffer and are at risk. That’s what the lawsuit and the state bar associations are for — to make sure we have morally-based, courageous individuals who will take a stand for what is right — not what is expedient or imprudent.

Our story is the story of others throughout history, “though a good man fall he shall not be destroyed.” I am proud to report my falsely-accused felon has landed a job with benefits which will allow him to complete his education tuition-free and with other benefits he will be making over $80K. He won’t be passing a football, but his years of sacrifice, training, hard work and a steadfast faith in God has brought him through the “Joseph” experience. If these young men who attended Duke do the same, they will also prosper and not fall.

We humbly declined to accept the County Police’ kind offer at this time. He’s where he needs to be. Let God deal with the sin. We’ll just keep doing what we always did.

Don’t forget the Board of Trustees. This spring the chair wrote that they supported Brodhead all the way and if Brodhead has to be faulted, then so do they. So, when the firing squads are set up, the Board of Trustees must be dragged in front of them and shot.

One really interesting part of this whole picture which is up in the air as far as I know is the question of venue and jurisdiction. Had the thing gone to trial the three kids might have gotten the venue changed but they would still have been tried in NC. There is a delicious possibility of the tables being turned here and the board of trustees of Duke having to crawl into some courtroom in NY or NJ and listen to some judge there tell them something like this:

"You know, we sent several of our sons down there to your school for an education, and this is what happened to them. Now, I'm going to give you boys about five minutes to come up with a reason why I shouldn't simply transfer your little seven billion dollar endowment to these complainants, for just cause....."

I, for one, would love it if some or all of the trials were conducted in New Jersey or New York. Preferably a mostly rural area of either state.
