Madrid, Spain (LifeNews.com) --

The Spanish capital city of Madrid is quickly becoming an "abortion mecca" for foreign residents, a local pro-life group says. Carlos Valdes, the assistant director of the Life Foundation in Spain says that private abortion businesses there are flourishing and he points out that 49 percent of the women getting abortions there come outside the city. He told CNA that abortion "is a growing private business in the Community of Madrid."

Valdes pointed out that the number of abortions occurring at abortion businesses has increased steadily to 97 percent and indicated that 39.8 percent of women getting abortions in Madrid come from other parts of Spain and 9.2% from other countries.

He said that the number of abortions has increased with 20,759 abortions done in 2005, a 6.79% increase over the 2004 figures

Valdes also said there was a greater reliance on taxpayer funds to finance the abortions and that, in 2005, 21.5% of abortions were funded by public funds up from 20% the previous year.

The pro-life advocate blamed local government officials for wanting to promote abortion.

“Only in the administration of the Community of Madrid do we see a certain sensitivity, while the Ministry of Health is only concerned with increasing the number of abortions among the youngest women," he told CNA.

It does not see that it is the logical consequence of the hedonistic spiral that it is constantly encouraging with repeated messages,” Valdes said.

“The public state administration does not offer solutions” he emphasized, and “it is incapable of reducing the number of abortions.”

That is sadly true. Our Ministry of Health is more worried about banning some Burguer King comercials (Supposedly, to prevent Obesity) than protecting human lives.
Believe it. They are socialists.
