I also get nervous about these long trips the Veep is taking in view of his history of blood clots in the legs.

However, the Bush bad-cop bench is one-piece-of tissue-paper thin with Bolton gone. Methinks Cheney's mission is to lay the law down to recalcitrant Iraqis as only he can.

Forget anyone in the State or Defense departments capable of doing what it takes to be tough.

Too bad Bush is left with an Army of One (Dick Cheney) when it comes to tough talk when few options are left.

Allegra, if you get the chance , give our VP a high five from all of us on Free Republic.

LOL - I'd love to, but I'm not high enough on the food chain to get an audience. ;-)

The neighbors welcomed the VP with some fireworks earlier this evening. Wasn't that sweet of them? ;-P

All is well.

I was kind of hoping that he would tell Maliki to trim their vacation by about six weeks.

Yes, time to ask him and most of the other Shia terrorists to resign from the government. If not then admit we made a mistake absolve the government and proclaim Iraq as a US territory. Well, at least make this a threat, stop the terror or we make you a territory.

He's going to beg them to get along.

Pathetic.

He's going to WHAT??

This is a diplomatic visit and Cheney is here to help. There's nothing pathetic about it. It amazes me how many people there are who do not realize how critical a strong Iraq is to the US national security.

My guess is that Cheney invited Maliki to go hunting.

Make it deer hunting or perhaps grizzly bear. Not quail hunting. Cheney will have to use a big gun with big bullets.

I would bet $100 that VP Cheney said to the Iraqis, GET YOUR ASSES IN GEAR!

Thanks !

I have to say , I love that mans face ....
It inspires confidence . He is so no nonsense
and just the right amount of sarcastic . In the face of a
world full of idiots and evils , he’s got ‘the right stuff’.

The Welcome made it to the news:

Cheney: Iraq Remains a Dangerous Place

*******************************EXCERPT***************************

BAGHDAD (AP) - Vice President Dick Cheney said Wednesday that Iraq remains a dangerous place, a point underscored by a thunderous explosion that rattled windows in the U.S. Embassy where he spent most of the day.

The blast in Baghdad struck about 6:25 p.m. local time, just half an hour before Cheney’s wrap-up news conference. It appeared to strike in the vicinity of the heavily fortified Green Zone, which contains the U.S. and British embassies and many Iraqi government buildings.
