WASHINGTON - 501(c)(4) — it’s the most potent little algorithm in politics right now. A 501(c)(4) is the Internal Revenue Service term for a tax-exempt organization “primarily engaged in promoting in some way the common good and general welfare of the community.”

Keeping heat on GOP incumbents Since the beginning of this year, Democratic-allied 501(c)(4) organizations such as VoteVets.org and Americans United for Change, headed by former Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) spokesman Brad Woodhouse, have been keeping pressure on Republicans up for re-election next year.

This is one of the large reasons we are losing the PR side of this WOT (along with the MSM in general).

That the left has DNC supported 527 groups up and running ads touting lies and spin on the WOT (along with the constant negative spin by the MSM)...and we don't have a single orchestrated WOT supporting 527 campaign is shameful.

The reality is the DNC and the DEM leadership have made it a priority to have their 527s up, resourced and running.....the GOP/WH have simply blown it on this one! (even after the shock of the 527s in 04).

It is shameful that the powers that be in the RNC/WH have not made certain that we have a FULLY resourced WOT supporting 527 to tout our successes in this WOT, to tout why we are in this fight and why we must stay on the offensive.....to point out who exactly the DEM leadership is and why they can't be trusted on national security / Iraq....

After seeing how effective the Swift Boat ads were..(at providing the truth that the MSM won't)..It is flat out wrong that the RNC/WH haven't made certain of WOT supporting 527.

And here we go, not only ceding the news airwaves to the MSM, we continue to allow the DEMs to own the 527 aspect of this PR war as well....

I've lost a great deal of my little previous faith in the RNC, but the fact is that it has run "war rooms" in the past (according to a friend who was a pro fundraiser for them) and there's no reason to believe that it isn't or won't be doing so for 2008.

Exactly. Conservatives need to get involved, especially in local governments. I go to local meetings and the room is filled with screeching left wing moonbats - no conservatives. No wonder we’re losing the political fight.

Volunteer for local committees like zoning and planning. Or at least show up once a month at the village council or county commission meetings. We need to establish a political base and local governments are a good place to start. We’re not in any position to challenge the federal government until we have a strong political base.

Until such organizations (of which I'm a member to several involving the current WOT)....Until they start running TV ad buys in a concentrated effort.....They don't do sh*t on the whole....(it terms of changing public opinion in this WOT).

We are losing the PR aspect of this WOT. It is a crucial battlefield and one that must won in order to win the larger WOT...

"Bush Rangers" (those bringing in 100K plus) should have been given the marching orders to have a WOT supporting 527 up years ago now - It is shameful how bad the RNC/WH are allowing our warriors to lose the PR aspect of this war back home.

Just as the leadership of the DNC has done (and they even have the constant MSM spinning / lying for them to boot....Yet they still understood the need for 527s...and they made sure they were fully resourced....From there their crazy defeatist grassroots have helped to fund them even more).

Bottom line is this WH has forfeited any authority now regarding our success in this WOT (to date) and for why we are in this WOT....They have forfeited this ability with large segments of the American public because they refused to respond in any coherent, creative and effective manner for 4 years now...

The only avenue for an effective counter message (the truth) regarding the WOT/Iraq is going to have to come from the 527 angle...

HERE is why the Conservative Movement is in so much trouble. They all sit on their butts whining for new Reagan to ride to their rescue. So instead of HELPING the President get the message out they all sit on their asses all day and do nothing but cry and bitch and whine. Until Conservatives learn to get off their ass and fight back, NOTHING will change. NO one is riding to the rescue of the Conservatives, they will have to do it themselves.

I agree with you to a point - Also agree that the "waiting on the new Reagan" is a bunch of BS wrapped in a view of only looking back at selective sections of history....

With that said, there is no excuse for this WH to not have been forefront in helping a WOT supporting 527 to get up and running....fully resourced.

Considering who the RNC is promoting as our "frontrunners" and their absolutely abysmal performance in 2006, I have absolutely no hope for them. We've got to start acting as if the RNC is no longer a friend to conservatives. They aren't.

Stop giving money to them. Start giving money to conservative 527s--if you can find them.
