The reason for the 3 times the Lord commanded Peter in the vision(s) was threefold:
1. That both Jews and gentiles need to repent of their sins. 2. To accept gentiles into the Christian Church. 3. To not impose Jewish ritual laws, including dietary laws on the gentile.
