"Carona said the deal likely will involve passing another bill by early next week"

SB1929 is the bill written around the negotiated compromise between Carona, Krusee, and Williamson. It includes a moratorium. It does not include a tax increase or indexing, but they would not object to indexing to get the bill passed.

The bill was passed out of Carona's committee.

...and give local authorities more power over toll projects in their areas.

Let me add one more to my special interest list that are impeding progress at the expense of Texans for their own self interest.

1. Unions - We can do it for twice the money and twice the time

2. Subsidized farm land owners - Don't mess with my (inherited) gold mine

3. Immigration-phobia - Like, it can't be any easier to get in already

4. Liberals bashing Republicans - Every downed Republican is a notch in their belt.

5. Local Authorities - Show me the money. The tail wagging the dog.
