"I can devote time to my career, take my time finding Mr Right and know that when I deem the time is right, even if I am menopausal, I can still have my own baby."

Would someone want a child when "menopausal"?

Let me think...... nope, not I.

I have mixed feelings about this. I really don’t care about age as long as the body and mind are capable. I think a career before family isn’t a healthy reason to delay what your body is designed for when younger but I can understand a woman doing this, who hasn’t found “Mr. Right” and wants a marriage and children but the clock is ticking. Not all science is bad.

I agree with you. Anyone who desires have children when she is menopausal, or post-menopausal, is, in my opinion, a kook. But it seems like she is being attacked for opting for a career and college education. I think both are important and essential in todays world. Some people are too selfish to have children.

Many children are raised by grandparents and they both not only survive but thrive. Should age really be a issue?

IT’s stupid to interfere with nature. There’s a reason why a woman is fertile up to a certain age and not fertile at 60.

What a disgusting and irresponsible lady. Kids aren’t an investment - it’s not about you.

At age 60, she would be lucky to see the child graduate from High School.

I don’t think she really understands what 60 and pregnant is.

What is the problem? There is nothing wrong with a woman wanting to get an education and establish a career. Many women LIKE working. There is nothing wrong with putting off having children because you are not yet mature enough to be selfless, which is what parenting requires.

1. Are you saying that giving birth to a child when women are 60, who will not be of age until you are 78, will engender a child who receives the attention and nurture and focus a child needs as the mother goes through the health issues prevalent to people in their 70s.

2. let us hear your version of selfless.

Raising a teenager when you’re in your seventies sounds like fun!

Michael Douglas was 59 when his daughter was born. Imus is an “old” dad. Larry King is an “old” dad. Why do men get a second chance to be Daddy after they screwed up the first time?

I wouldn’t recommend it at 60 but she would be 76-78. Many are living to be 90-100. Yall jumped on 60 but I think that was her high number. You could be talking about late 40’s too, which still could be rough. Would it be better for her to have a career and be a single mother? Many choose this option. I liked how she believes that a child needs a daddy also.

On the bright side for the child, when mom puts her in time-out, she can put mom in a nursing home for revenge...

This stuff is really unbelievable. My parents are in their sixties and very active, yet they get pretty tired of chasing and playing with my kids for a day. This woman really can’t see the big picture from any angle.

Having a baby at 50 or 60 is completely beyond my understanding. 78 when sending one off to college? Sillyness. There is a reason women have a natural end to their fertile years.

This is selfishness writ large.

How right you are! My mother-in-law FREQUENTLY observed while she watched her own daughter and me chasing after our children, “Thank God only the young have children.”

This lady is really thinking about the security and welfare of her "ice baby" isn't she?

She'll be dead and buried before this child would be grown.

So you think It’s alright to have a child at 60? Would that be in the best interest of a child? It’s the age that she talks about having children I have a problem with. Can a sixty year old take care of a child like a 30 year old? No!

"I realised then I didn't want to get married early, have 2.4 children, a husband and a dog. I didn't want an ordinary life.

In the UK, "ordinary" is more like 1.2 children if you're non immigrant.
