Four years ago, a company that owns two local power plants settled a lawsuit with New York State by agreeing to install $100 million worth of pollution control technology at one of them, its coal-fired plant here, or shut it down.

Should have kept fighting. No pity from me. You agreed with the verdict now I guess you will pay.

Gotta agree. The requirement was to install $100M worth of tech — think of it as a fine. Didn’t pay the fine, give it up.

I don’t know whether the requirement was appropriate in the first place — but once the settlement was reached that question became moot.
