My bad.
multitasking this morning. ...google had a McKinney’s pic under Tucker’s name.
I’m glad someone finally called them on it!If you really want to increase your blood pressure try reading their sister publication the Dayton Daily News a couple of their columnist will really barf you out!
Most Americans grow up and see every thing they know about war on TV. The feelings, the smells, the fear, the tension, etc. are just not present in the view of reality. Then with only a visual input they think they are experts.
Well, that certainly reinforces my low opinion of modern Pulitzers.
Actually she does but the word itself brings up images of “peaceful” and “happy” which is why I’m sure the media uses it. Words such as “restive” sucker in those naive souls who still believe in the msm.
i read the same article and thought the same thing....that is a hard loooking woman....what po’d me was her constant attack on Condi Rice throughout the article...and then when she stated that she considers herself center right, a little to the left I cracked up...she’s a lib through and through!
OK, you’re Robin.
Please understand, I agree with your conclusion about Tucker. I’ve been reading her columns for years now. Well, I usually read the first paragraph or two, then get too disgusted to finish.
But in that column, she does not ‘laughingly’ describe Anbar as restive. She sounds pretty darned serious. And I don’t think she misuses the word.
Your rebuttal, however, gives the impression you don’t think ‘restive’ means “stubbornly resisting control”. Really.
Gotta lunch bump. I like what you have written...
I have an idea. When any of these tools who extol their prior service (e.g. Murtha, Kennedy,Rangel) make recommendations regarding the war based upon their empathy with the troops let us suggest that the recommendations be put before the troops. Should the recommendations receive less than 40% of the vote they would be required to retire.
thank you for your input. i stand corrected and appreciate the feedback.
Now it’s my turn to be flabbergasted. Thank you for being so open to that. Very impressive.
“Cynthia Tucker won this year’s Pulitzer for written commentary.”
Shaking my head in disbelief — but at the same time not surprise.
Tucker is no worse than E. J. Dionne or the rank and file of lib “journalists”. One thing they have in common is the desire to depict America as a terrible country filled with a few superrich people, and the rest struggling, hungry citizens who just can’t seem to make a go of it under this awful capitalist system. The military is only written about when there is some invented scandal like Haditha. I’m willing to bet my life savings that Tucker had never written one positive article about our military. I’d like to proven wrong, but I doubt it after sampling her “erudite” commentary for the last ten years.
