Royalty has always been made up of buffoons and adulterers. It was really no one's business, so people didn't much care and didn't much talk about it. Well, they did -- but it was all just good fun. But after Diana married the Prince of Wales, the royal family became a media sensation, and discretions became big news. Eventually, it tarnished the monarchy. Now, it may be the case that the British monarchy will recover and get past this but there's an important lesson (one that Diana just couldn't manage): When the media covers everything you do or say, you have to be "on" all the time, and you can't make mistakes.

The Internet is doing this to political campaigns. Politicians are not going to come out of this smelling like a rose.

If a political party really cares about limiting government, it would field candidates who said, "Look at me! Look at us! We're bumbling idiots! Did you see the news yesterday? Did you see what my colleague said?? Listen -- don't let us take your money! We don't know how to spend it! We're just a bunch of goofballs. You need less of us, not more!"

That may be the new way to win elections.

What controversy? I don’t see a controversy. He sang a funny song.

This is a magnificent example of left wing misinformation.

The article is extremely long and poorly written in an attempt to confuse the reader into thinking it's high brow thought. The reader skips to the end to find an easy to see conclusion:

"That old, eh, that old Beach Boys song, 'Bomb Iran.'" Then he sang, "Bomb Bomb Bomb Bomb, anyway, ah ..." And he trailed off.

It didn't matter, of course. The oppo had done its job. The world believed what the Drudge headline declared. It was just another day in the 2008 campaign.

Michael Scherer took 19 paragraphs and 1,784 words to complain about the snytax of Drudge's title. You could say "get a life", but this article was probably written to create momentum for the "Fairness Doctrine"...the Hush Rush and regulate Drudge bill.

Unfortunately for the propagandist, the video is around.

For the record, that song belongs to the Regents. The Beach Boys copied it later.
