Scott Knight, police chief of lovely Chaska, is becoming one of the best-known cops in the country. He's done this by saying what most of us already know: American efforts at controlling guns are tepid and irrational. The only people who don't buy into this message are some members of the National Rifle Association and the members of Congress they control.
A few days ago, Knight, a 31-year member of his department, was in New York City having a meal and a news conference with the city's mayor, Michael Bloomberg. Early next week he'll be in Washington, D.C., chatting with members of Congress and working with a committee he heads for the International Association of Chiefs of Police

True enough - gun control IS irrational.
However, I don't think the author intended this sentence to read the way it does.
“American efforts at controlling guns are tepid and irrational. The only people who don’t buy into this message are some members of the National Rifle Association and the members of Congress they control.”
Irrational, yes. Hardly tepid.
Got news for you: “The NRA” is 4 million+ citizens of these here United States, most of whom vote. The NRA would have ZERO power as lobbyists if we the people didn’t support it. Do not treat “The NRA” as some big bogeyman: it’s PEOPLE!
TC
Reading the rest of the article also tells one that he’s also pro-illegal-immigrant.
Strike 3, he’s out!
Actually, you do not have to be a citizen to join the NRA...
This a$$hat reminds me of the police chief in the Police Academy movies. Even looks like him.
“We have many, many gun laws. But we need many, many, many more gun laws so that my ‘progressive socialist’ policies can be foisted on a disarmed populace.”
The Mayor of Williamsport, PA, Mary Wolf, was asked to join Bloomberg’s group on reducing gun violence.
After she found out the “truth” about Bloomberg’s motives, she publicly resigned in a letter that questioned the direction of Bloomberg’s group.
You can read the letter on the NRA’s website or do a search on Mary Wolf and Bloomberg.
Gutsy politicians are not given their due in the media.
A) Most police chiefs are more politician than law enforcement.
Given ‘A’ above, most police chiefs are scared little schoolgirls when it comes to the concept of an armed citizenry.

Like all big city liberals, Doug Grow and the "Red Star" has a institutional hatred of the successful suburbs, except when they happen to toe the "progressive" line.
It’d just be wonderful if Grow were one of the local columnists the Red Star is purging in its mass cutbacks. The only greater sense of schadenfreude I could get out of that is if the flatulently liberal Nick Coleman got it.
So why do I think it will be Katherine Kersten instead? Oh, yeah. She’s the conservative on staff.
“I’m not about taking the guns out of the hands of hunters,” he said.
Dear Chaska police chief Scott Knight,
THE SECOND AMMENDMENT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH DUCK HUNTING.
Chaska, Minnesota. That hotbed of gun crime......
“The only people who dont buy into this message are some members of the National Rifle Association and the members of Congress they control.
Along with millions upon millions of sane people who recognize as you as being a genuine A**HAT.
