I stand corrected. NY is 43.9 cents/gallon.

Wow. Sure glad we had 12 years of Republican administration

second only to NY which is at 33.55 cents per gallon. Funny how our BLUE states all have higher gasoline taxes, ain’t it?

Even funnier is that Georgia has one of the lowest gas taxes in the country, has far less people than New York, yet collects more gas tax revenues than New York. Lower taxes - higher revenues. Go figure.

“Lower taxes - higher revenues. Go figure.”

Works every time and in every place it’s ever been tried. But let’s not confuse the ‘Rats with the facts, LOL! :)

Sorry. Wish it were lower. I saw that 20 cent figure on another thread this morning.

Wisconsin also requires a 9.2% markup on retail gasoline sales.

Some group is always at the capitol, pleading for some free government money, but no one ever goes to the capitol and pleads for tax cuts.

“how younger, less affluent couples can get along with families to feed”

Progressive taxes allows for someone else to pay for the ‘less affluent’ share,
while they get tax credits and Government subsidies.

This does seem to be idiotic. Last November there was a ballot initiative passed to constituionally encumber vehicle sales taxes to pay for transportation projects. Now less than a year later they tell us they need even more tax money.

I can’t imagine with gas prices being what they are that another increase mandated by the state will be either popular or advisable.

There have always been tax credits for children. But not all young families lean on the dole. Plenty of them are proud to cinch in their belts, sacrifice luxuries to stand on their own two feet. That’s what my generation did. Are you telling me they don’t do that anymore?

Nah, I’m about done smoking. I really enjoy it, don’t get me wrong. But I’d rather quit while I actually have a choice.

And add to that that the liberal-loving financial gurus are saying that the economy is actually on a downswing/slowdown. Why is the liberal idea of a good thing to raise taxes? Can they not take a look at the Federal Government right now? I heard a report this last week that the Federal Government has set records for total tax collected - this despite the “Bush” tax cuts being in place. Lower taxes, yet higher revenue- go figure...

Can they not take a look at the Federal Government right now?

They didn't during the previous three tax cut periods, so why should they start now? The news is ALWAYS what liberals don't want to hear. Lower taxes means more revenue - now proven four times out of four on the Federal level.

Raising taxes arbitrarily : It's not just for liberals anymore.

At least, not 'round these parts.

The DFL (democrats) are in charge of both the House and Senate, so yes you are correct. They are taxing and spending like there’s no tomorrow.

The Taxpayers League has put up a billboard here (I paraphrase) DFL plan, Tax Tax Tax Spend Spend Spend.

irresponsible idiots is who! its easy when you spend other peoples money. I heard this morning that people are pouring out of california due to taxes and goverment regulations. I can see that happening in this state too as long as the people here are going to elect a bunch of spend happy idiots. Problem here is we need to be more like colorado that has a tax payer bill of rights that makes the idiots accountable and can’t raise taxes unless they are voted on by the people. I have been here for over twenty years and I am really getting sick of all the new taxes we have here all the time! if it’s not the feds it’s the state or the county or the local idiots everyone is constantly diggin into my pockets and I am really fedup with this shit from these screwballs. Its really simple math, you don’t spend more then you bring in. We can’t fix everything with money they need to get the priorities in order.
