And take it from me.
Nothing good has come out of the Bush Administration over North Korea for the last six months. They have done a complete about face, and we are in ABJECT RETREAT.
We need to get ready for more of this.
And it is not just a "liberal" or "Bush bashing" thing to make such an objective observation.
I am in full agreement. Really love to see what went on inside White House to cause this meltdown.
It’s awful to watch. It’s almost like something is unraveling. Is the president so utterly focused on Iraq that he’s given up on Korea and Iran?
What else could be expected...the support of the American people for sabre-rattling and a forceful approach to foreign dictators went up in the flames of the 2006 elections. Bush would have no support whatsoever for a tough approach - he is neutered by public opinion.
"With public sentiment anything is possible; without it nothing is" (Abraham Lincoln)
The “Axis of Evil” speech was great theater, wasn’t it?
The WH went after the low-hanging fruit in Iraq - where intelligence coverage was knowingly sparse - and got burned to the third-degree. Our credibility is shot. This is not going to be resolved until an international crisis emerged, I’m afraid to say.
Who fault it is is it Sunshine Condi or Sunshine Robert Gates

I totally agree with your observation. Bush should have stayed the cowboy cleaning up the thugs without mercy. Instead, he listened to cabinet members who were listening to world opinion. Well, addressing world opinion is important on our intentions, but we could have continued our strategy of stating them on national news and giving to other countries in need. But no, what happened was a bout of compassion at a time we needed to continue violence. Bush Jr. should spend more time with Bush Sr. about how the CIA of his time was nasty, ruthless and effective in keeping the Soviets in check. We cannot back down from the current and looming larger conflict, we must be prepared and state to our enemies in no uncertain terms we will back our words up with actions, not do about-faces and act waffle. Now the world truly doesn’t get us or what our intentions are and this has made it far more dangerous.
I’ve said it before... Bush is a missionary. We need a warrior.
Bush is well on his way to weakening this country nearly as badly a Clinton did... and he has two years left.
N.K., Iran, Venezuela, and Russia have been very bold lately.
