Let's see.. socially far left wing... I see a ton of Democrats willing to kick Arafat out of Lincoln Center like Guliani did (Hillary kissed him). I see a ton of RATs willing to crack down on crime and jail panhandlers and squeegee men like Guiliani did. Most Democrats would rather throw money at the problem. Yep. Law and order, but socially liberal.
It comes down to abortion and gun control that you make the social left wing arguments, but it is a distortion of the entierty of his record.
A fiscal liberal? Cutting taxes? Making welfare recipients work? Cutting the bloated NYC bureaucracy? Those are all liberal fiscal policies, right? No, they are all Republican tenants (many of which are lost on this administration).
You're the one that picked out those two issues. There's also his anti-First amendment stance, his downright advocacy in favor of special rights for gays, his suicidal pro illegal immigrant stance, his strong support for liberal Democrats when he was Mayor including selecting them for most of his judicial appointments, and this is on top of his radical pro-abortion positions and his anti-Second Amendment policies.
How about his fiscal record?
Is support for public funding for abortion fiscally conservative?
Is support for the taxpayer picking up the bill for all social services and welfare for illegal aliens conservative?
What about leaving NY with the highest tax rate and the highest deficit of anyplace in the country? Conservative?
And then there's law and order. Flaunting his policy not to obey Federal immigration laws to the point of refusing to obey two Federal Courts. Conservative?
Liberals who become prosecutors are quite often strong on "law and order" sometimes to the point of becoming authoritarian and trampling on the rights of citizens. This does not make them conservative, it just makes them a liberal bully.
