WASHINGTON, DC, United States (UPI) -- A new poll of Americans shows that a large majority believe the U.S. war in Iraq has damaged American moral authority in the world, and they consider it a serious problem.
Seventy-five percent believe the war in Iraq has damaged American moral authority in the world, including 57 percent of Republicans and 61 percent of self-identified conservatives. Ninety-five percent consider the decline of U.S. moral authority a 'serious' problem.
Overall, 61 percent disapprove of the way U.S. President George W. Bush is handling his job. Not surprisingly, Bush is a polarizer: 71 percent of Republicans approve of his job performance strongly or somewhat strongly and 91 percent of Democrats disapprove, 78 percent strongly. Moderates lean towards the Democrats in this case, with 68 percent disapproving.
The poll was commissioned by the American Security Project, a think tank organized by Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., with retired Democratic Sen. Gary Hart, retired Sen. Warren Rudman, former Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage and the former chief of U.S. Central Command, retired Marine Gen. Anthony Zinni.
The poll is meant not as a policy tool, Kerry said, but rather to understand where the American electorate`s attention is directed and what is its starting point.

Would you buy a used car from John Kerry....?
I wouldn’t buy a new car from John F’n Kerry.
Dem’s have harmed USA, the Iraq battlefield was their focus.
The “war” is on the global war on terror not, Iraq.
Some of us get it.
The amazing thing is I looked at the break down in this poll and it managed to give Bush better numbers then the Newsweak poll the media is talking endless about.
I wouldn't buy into anything Kerry said. Having said that how much you want to bet he takes another crack at being president?
Unless we can destroy Hillary with Paul v Clinton, he won’t dare take her on.

While I appreciate the observation, polls are corruptable, and can be made to give any result those who commission the poll what to be stated by the poll. With the variables of WHO YOU POLL, WHAT QUESTIONS YOU ASK, and how you ask the questions, a poll can give a wide range of convenient results. Polls are near useless — there is only one poll that counts really -— the election vote count.
His record player has been stuck on that verse since the presidental campaign.
Good point but I wouldn't bet on it.
*ahem*
The American Security Project birth-date is 05/16/07.
The “Project” is specifically about being against the “so-called” war on terror and the war in Iraq.
So, is there any bias here ? and they really called 2000 people in less than a day ?
Of course the thing is a poltical joke that even a retard would see that is what makes it funny.
This just in...a poll commissioned by the DNC shows that 90% of those surveyed view President Bush as a “flatulating butt-head.” Howard Dean calls the poll “a mandate for change in America.”
“Swiftboating” is one thing. What Hillary is capable of doing to him is another. She would leak his full military file and the proof that his less than honorable discharge was changed by Carter.
Does anyone pay attention to that screwball anymore? Dean shot his ass out of the saddle with that stupid scream.
same old kerry.
This could go both ways. The Clintons are hardly lily white when it comes to ethics. I hope they eat each other alive.
Is it true that Jon Francois Carry was in Vietnam and got shot in the butt by a grain of rice?
He’s just so cute in his bike shorts.
Who’s Kerry?
