Don't Be Fooled(Heather Mac Donald "illegal status wiped away...virtually upon demand.")
National Review ^ | May 17, 2007 | Heather Mac Donald

Posted on 05/17/2007 4:46:16 PM PDT by kellynla

Republican supporters of the Senate’s latest amnesty bill are trying to distract voters by dangling before them the requirements for an illegal alien to become a citizen or purchase a green card. These requirements make this bill a tough, no-cave-in reform, proponents say, that responds to the public’s outrage over immigration law-breaking. Don’t be fooled.

Prerequisites to citizenship or permanent residency status are irrelevant to whether this bill rewards law-breaking or will encourage more in the future. Its key feature is rather that illegal aliens, according to press reports, can immediately have their illegal status wiped away with a temporary-residency permit, available virtually upon demand. That’s it. The rest is noise. Whether or not one has to show English proficiency and a knowledge of civics to become a citizen is irrelevant from an illegal alien’s perspective; a minute proportion of illegal or even legal Mexican and Central American immigrants come here with the desire to become citizens. The naturalization rate among qualified Hispanics has traditionally been negligible compared to other national groups; it started rising only when Congress required citizenship to receive welfare benefits.

There is no ambiguity about the effects of amnesty. Everywhere they have been introduced—including in Europe—they have brought in their train a new flood of illegals. This latest bill will do the same.

Yet Heather continues to shill for Mr. “Sanctuary City” and “I love diversity” himself for 2008.

The illegals will ignore the requirements, and the Government, especially a Democrat controlled one, will not enforce the requirements. The usual lies, smoke and mirrors.

Are you kidding? Amnesty is OK when a Republican says it’s not actually amnesty. Sanctuary sounds better, doesn’t it?

I wanna know what laws I can break and get amnesty for!!!

Oh, damn, I’m a citizen... None, I guess... RATS!

How do I become an illegal alien in the US? It’s the only country in the world that actually welcomes them and doesn’t do nasty things to them... I’d hate to be an illegal alien in Mexico! Or for that matter, even a legal one!

Wonder if Mexico would give me amnesty if I trespassed and settled in.

We are all fighting for the very existence and respect of the word of law this weekend. If you have never called your Senators before, please take a minute to do it now. Just think what tens of millions of illegals who think they “got away with it” will do to this country.

Please call the Senate Switchboard at 202-224-3121. Tell the operator your state and they will connect you to your Senators’ offices.

Thank you in advance for fighting for your country this weekend.

Yep. Rudy is WORSE than Kennedy when it comes to illegals. He is blowing smoke out of his ass even pretending to want a secure border.

Our Republican “leadership” has a death wish. We should end the charade and all join the Dim Party - and wreck it from within.

Correct. If the GOP thinks betraying their base is going to make it enthusiastic about stopping Hillary, they better think again. I won't vote a party that rewards those who break our country's laws. Its that simple.

"Yet Heather continues to shill for Mr. “Sanctuary City” and “I love diversity” himself for 2008"

And yet, while you rail on Rudy, you continue to support this abomination we have in our current president.....

Absolutely disgusting what Bush has done to us here, but we knew it was coming and has been talked openly about for years...

Chernoff was just on FOX news and said "Here's what's going to happen. The people who don't apply and get the Z Visa are going to be hunted down and they are going to get deported. There is a clear choice. You can either bring yourself into the system and find safety...pay your fine and work within the law OR you can stay outside the law, and we're going to focus our attention on those people and deport them".

BAWHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!

Bush and Rudy have their faults. The only thing that makes Bush slightly preferable to Mayor Linguine D-ck is that he is less obnoxious and at least has "some" understanding of traditional conservatism. Rudy, on the other hand, is a true "metrocosmopolitan" who is even worse on most issues than Bush, although both are about the same on immigration.

Rudy presided over a city dominated by Third World immigrants and their children and took "pride" in it. Bush (and Reagan and Clinton) presided in turning our nation into a Third World sewer like New York, LA, etc.
