Duncan Hunter speaks with White House on Senate Bill
Cnn/Lou Dobbs ^ | May 17, 2007 | Lou Dobbs Transcript

Posted on 05/17/2007 7:00:12 PM PDT by AuntB

But the president may be on a collision course with fellow conservatives in his party. Republican congressman Duncan Hunter just emerged from a meeting here with the president. As you know, his district in California is right on the U.S.-Mexico border, in San Diego.

Congressman Hunter told me he is making it clear to the White House he thinks this is a rotten deal.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

REP. DUNCAN HUNTER (R), CALIFORNIA: Listen, we passed my bill in October that calls for 854 miles of border fence across Arizona, New Mexico and Texas. The Senate bill cuts my fence in half, literally takes it down to 370 miles.

That's going to do a lot to damage enforcement on the border. You have to have an enforceable border. The Senate bill takes us the wrong way.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

HENRY: Now, Congressman Hunter also told me that he told the president that out of the 854 miles of fence along the U.S.-Mexico border that is supposed to be built, mandated in that law passed last year, only two miles have actually been built. Congressman Hunter said he told that to the president and the president seemed surprised -- Lou.

DOBBS: Surprised. Why would he be surprised?

HENRY: Well, certainly, he's been getting reports suggesting that they're making a lot of progress on that. And Duncan Hunter said he pressed him and said that he needs to check back into it because he doesn't think progress is being made -- Lou.

DOBBS: Well, one would think that if you're coming up about 852 miles short over the course of six months, not even by government standards would that be considered progress.

Ed Henry, thank you very much, reporting from the White House.

‘With this bill, the Fort Dix terrorists would have been legalized, the 9/11 terrorists would have been legalized.’

Don’t let anyone who voted for or signed this ever again claim that care about the security of America. If you support this bill and support the war in Iraq, you’re not in it for the nation.

Prediction: Duncan Hunter could cure cancer and nobody would still know who he is.

Because of the anthrax episode a letter takes several weeks to get to Congress. Use emails and phone calls and faxes (they can’t ignore those rolls of paper on their floor every morning).

"Congressman Hunter said he told that to the president and the president seemed surprised"

I just don't know what to make of this. For a president who is dedicated to our national security as Bush is, or claims to be, he should be very mindful of this. Does he not see the wide open border as a potential national security threat?!? Duncan Hunter seems to have a command over this issue.

Our country has just been sold down the river by it’s own government.

BTTT

We knew it was coming, now we know how it feels.

This is the result of almost 20 years of piss-poor presidents, senators and representatives whose loyalties do not lie with America.

I am beginning to understand why the MSM thinks Bush is an idiot. He is an idiot.

I am sick of his pandering to lawbreaking anti-American Mexicans at the expense of our Nation's future and our posterity.

It is time we let him know that we will not tolerate Treason even from those we previously supported.

IMPEACH BUSH!

Unfortunately, if Bush said that, he would mean a 3 Kilometer fence and with his amnesty there would be no illegals to deport.

Funniest post of the night!

You need to study this, because it is what the minority got. 18 months. During that time anything can happen, including changing an amnesty law, if we have different people in Congress. Of course, if people can’t figure that our, oh well. It will be a lot worse when all these drop outs vote too.

Three months ago my post was deleted for saying that.

I don't think it will be deleted any more. We no longer have an AMERICAN President. Bush thinks he is the President of the World. His loyalty is to those who have invaded our country, broken our laws, stolen our jobs, stolen our schools, stolen our emergency rooms and hospitals, flooded our streets with uninsured and unlicensed drivers who have no loyalty to anything American and who have refused to assimilate into our culture.

In that sense Bush is a traitor.

I'm going to post this again and again until the Republicans get the message that their loyalty should be to America First and that we can no longer cater to lawbreakers and invaders in the name of "compassion". I feel a lot sorrier for those Mexicans and others South American nations who have not broken our laws by crossing our borders and stealing our future. They should be the first in line for legal immigration, not those who have spit in the face of America by breaking its laws.

Words cannot express my contempt for any American who would support this Amnesty bill. This is about as close as I can get.

IMPEACH BUSH!!.
