Bush has put people in positions of power in Homeland Security and in the Justice Department that are pro-illegal immigrant.

Yet I can actually believe that he is surprised. Bush seems to be a poor judge of character and expects that people will do their jobs better than they do when in positions where their beliefs don't match their duty.

In many ways Bush just seems to fall short of being a great president.

When it comes down to it, he is in charge, and it is his fault that the Executive branch is not only not making a reasonable attempt to enforce our immigration laws, but are not working to fulfill their border security obligations.

In the days following 9/11, I was proud to have voted for Bush. However, the days I am proud of him are getting fewer and farther between, while the days I am ashamed of him are getting more frequent.

This plan needs to be stopped in Congress, and we need to get a President and a legislature that will enforce our current immigration laws and secure the border rather than make a bad problem even worse under the disguise of reform.

I’m with you. I’ve been a Republican for 31 years & have voted Republican all of those years - but I’m giving serious thought to changing that - depends on who runs as our candidate in ‘08. I’m mad enough to spit at 95% of the GOP right now!

Congressman Duncan Hunter has just demonstrated why he should be sitting behind that desk in the Oval Office.

I daresay he should be sitting in there NOW, instead of the current occupant.

I guess George P Bush will be a shoo-in for President Mex-America before too long.

Uncle George is paving the way for 30 million Mexican votes.

Viva Bush!!!!!!!!!!!

KYL: That’s right. this bill does not change his bill one iota. All it says is that until more than half of the 700 miles called for in his bill is built, nothing can happen here in the United States with the illegal immigrants are here. In other words, that’s part of the trigger.

I’m sure this is a lie dressed up as a talking_RINO point.......but even if it were true, at the rate the “fence” is going up, we are stuck with the wildly malignant status-quo of illegal alien invasion for 175 more years.

Could that be because you are a Fred-head? :o)

Don’t let it trouble you, Obie. I think they are trying to sabotage AuntB’s thread.

And my IDIOT senators (the living, breathing Twin Towers of disaster) dare to suggest we need this legislation to RETURN to a state of Law and Order!

No, actually it’s because I was stunned to learn our president was unaware apparently, of the LACK OF PROGRESS on the fence.

And you know- because I’ve said it many times- I think the world of Duncan Hunter.

Maybe you’re just teasing...but I’m in a foul mood tonight and not in the mood for sniping about Fred, Duncan or any of them. Our country has just been sold down the river by it’s own government. Whether or not this bill ever gets passed remains to be seen- but at least we know where our senators and president stand. It’s ugly.

I’m kind of wondering what happens to the money that was allocated to build the fence that isn’t getting built.

When the real impact, in all respects, of this massive horror of a travesty, gets exposed, you will see what a horrible thing this one-world elitist has done TO this country. He and all his cohorts in the Congress, which includes the vote-grubbing socialist libs (on both sides of the aisle).

Oh, mom. I was kidding you. I think the past two days have been very depressing for most of us. You are right. This amnesty bill is very ugly - to extent that it could bring down our Republic in short order. I hope everyone writes letters to everyone in WADC and mails them before the weekend. A delivered letter carries much more impact than an email or a fax. It might do the trick! Hope things are looking up for us soon. God bless.

He went on to admit that this was only within an eighteen month period. If the small portion of the fence is not built after 18 months, the amnesty will go forward regardless.

Kyl is a liar and a traitor.

“not even by government standards would that be considered progress.”

To the government, progress is getting people to vote for you. Twelve to twenty million new voters ain’t hay to these Congresscritters, and the rights of Americans be damned!

Yes, it appears that the Republican candidates for president are largely lining up against this amnesty.

Well John McCain made it clear in the debates that he's opposed to any form of amnesty. (snicker)

“Uncle George is paving the way for 30 million Mexican votes.”

Who says they’re going to vote for a Republican?

You'll just get more Democrats and they'll be mandating how many illegal aliens you have to house in your basement.

Be careful what you wish for.
