you forgot to mention that coffee is NOT a necessity. that $2.50 will buy meat or fresh veggies.
food stamps should be covering necessities not luxuries.
also there’s the fact that food stamps are meant to SUPPLEMENT a family’s budget, not pay for everything.
I’m not one of them, but I know people who think they will perish without their coffee. I really like my tea, but it’s about three cents a bag. There’s room even in $21/week for a few small treats - but over a fifth of your money on jam is dumb - Ryan wants diabetes and tooth decay? Then he can complain about the link between poverty and poor health.
I sure hope that when the gov’t gives out food stamps they give out a sample shopping list and weekly meal planner and the addresses of websites giving healthy cheap menus.
