What’s in it for Bush? That’s what I don’t get.

Revenge on his base? After the nomination of Harriet Miers was blocked, some Texas bushbots blustered about how there would be a price to be paid for thwarting that nomination.

Ha ha you are such a joke!

I am from California and I will tell you this!

The fact that I should allow my schools and my public services be overwhelmed with illegals so that your VERMONT farmers get cheap labour is a huge joke!

Maybe you should next time don’t use as an example “staunch Republicans” from a State that has elected THE ONLY SOCIALIST SENATOR.

GET A LIFE YOU TROLL.

>>I expect no less from a constant GW basher that always posts threads to undermine GW. You are pathetic.<<

Actually, GW has done more to undermine himself than any of us.

>>After that, illegal immigrants could obtain a renewable “Z visa” that would allow them stay in the country indefinitely. After paying fees and fines totaling $5,000, they could ultimately get on track for permanent residency, which could take between eight and 13 years. Heads of households would have to return to their home countries first.<<

Make no mistake. All the idiots pushing the bill keep talking about $5000, but that is only for a green card. If they pay $1000 (less than a coyote charges for one entry) for a Z-visa, they can stay here and work as long as they want. Why would they pay $5000? That is just a trick to in their “It’s not amnesty” talking points.

You are right. BTW, do like Reagan? If so, what did he do with immigration. Much worse than this bill, much worse and no way to spin that.

What has GW done that undermines his credibility:

Keep you and yours safe from a terrorist attack since 9/11, even though Al Qaeda is doing everything they can to attack us again.

The only POTUS to get a win against abortion.

Lowered taxes and gave us the highest one day receipts of all time.

Stock market is at an all time high

Unemployment low

The only POTUS to take the fight to the terrorists, where they live.

Roberts and Alito on SCOTUS. (Who did Reagan give us? O'Connor that voted with the rats half the time)

You can sell your undermining someowhere else because facts do not weigh your comment. These are stone cold hard facts.

Reagan was far worse on his amnesty immigration deal, retreated from Lebanon when our sleeping Marines were attacked and murdered and gave us O'Connor, yet he is regarded by most conservatives (myself included) as a great POTUS.

This bill gives Kennedy millions of new Democrat voters. What’s in it for Bush? That’s what I don’t get. But since the first Bush-Kenney deal - No Child - and then the Bush-Kennedy Health Care Monster, I’ve known Bush was a phony “conservative.” Freepers love him because he took down a fifth-rate dictator in Iraq. Excuse me, but I’m not impressed. In hindsight, we can now see that Saddam, with his rusty military, was not a threat to the US. Hundreds of millions of new Democrat immigrants ARE a threat.

Preach it brother! Blackbird.

You might want to calm down and reread what meandog wrote. He doesn’t appear to be supporting illegals, merely recognizing the problems with our current Congress and President trying to “fix” the problem.

He’s correct too. Too many people, including Congress and the President, have used these people and see them as either votes or money.

Reagan made a mistake, but GW knows what happened then and still pushed amnesty. I defended GW in Edinburgh, Scotland, in 2000, to a bunch of Scots who all said he was stupid. I still don’t thnk he is stupid, but he doesn’t care. He betrayed us.

>>The only POTUS to get a win against abortion.<< He has been good on that, agreed, but that is not enough.

>>Lowered taxes and gave us the highest one day receipts of all time.<< I agree with lower taxes, but we need a president who does not betray us on immigration.

>>The only POTUS to take the fight to the terrorists, where they live.<< Bungled, sorry.

The Republican Party might never recover from Bush. Most Texans don’t like him now.

Why did you not address who Reagan gave us on the supremes? The pathetic O’Connor that voted with the rats half the time and against abortion every time. GW gave us Roberts and Alito and got a win against abortion. History has judged Reagan well and history will judge GW well.

You must be one of those “Bush-Bots” I have been hearing about. You know, those guys who forgive him no matter what he does.

Yes, Bush has done some good things, and Reagan had some flaws, but there is a limit to what I will forgive.

>>history will judge GW well<<

I would bet against that if I would be alive to collect. But then again, I’m sure you could find some so-called historian who agrees with you.

"You must be one of those “Bush-Bots” I have been hearing about. You know, those guys who forgive him no matter what he does."

I guess by your response than, you are one of those whiners I have heard about that looks past the positives. Those of us with mature attitudes realize this is not a perfect world and we will not always get what we want. No POTUS can offer that to everyone. With Pelosi and Reid in power controlling congress, what type of immigration bill did you think would pass congress? Either a compromise is reached or nothing gets done and millions more come here illegally and we do not know who they are.

Obviously, you're the joke because you cannot seem to read...my post clearly states I'm from VIRGINIA. So much for your California school system.

Maybe you should next time don’t use as an example “staunch Republicans” from a State that has elected THE ONLY SOCIALIST SENATOR.

Really? While Warner and Webb are respectively a moderate Republican and a conservative Democrat...they are hardly socialists--unlike Fienstein and Boxer (your senators)

GET A LIFE YOU TROLL.

Check the date, genius, I've been here a lot longer than you...incidently your profile says you're living in Singapore, so technically you're an immigrant too? Buh Bye!

>>Either a compromise is reached or nothing gets done and millions more come here illegally and we do not know who they are.<<

Bush and others have demonstrated they have no will to enforce existing laws, and a new law will not create that will to do so. Either

1) a “compromise” amnesty which encourages even more illegal immigration, with no will to enforce our laws, with the same fools in charge, and a huge bureaucracy to administer the millions of new visas, and the courts granting new social benefits that we have to pay for, or

2) no amnesty, less incentive for illegals to come here, and again, no will to enforce our existing laws.

Enforcement and amnesty in the same bill don’t work. We proved that in 1986. We should enact the biometric ID and start busting businesses, and after that see if it is working, and then vote on amnesty. Later.

We should wait to see if we can elect fewer fools if we can’t pass a decent immigration bill.

Why are you complaining? This is what you wanted. Thanks to the 2006 elections, we have majorities of Democrats in both houses. And if we do what you want, we’ll get more! Maybe even Hillary!

That will solve the problem, won’t it?

What if the criminal aliens, crooks, terrorists and narco-gangsters don’t want amnesty? Why should they? Wouldn’t they have to pay taxes? How can you force criminals to become citizens? Why would you? If these people really wanted to be real citizens they wouldn’t use phony ID’s.

NO AMNESTY for Employers or Employees!

Bush -- you are out!

You forgot how he has trivialized the WOT right from the start. Think about it! Bin Laden and Co. tried to decapitate the United States on 9-11. The response should have been total war against every state that has used terror as an instrument of foreign policy. There should have been a declaration of war against Libya, Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, and Syria. The draft should have been reinstituted, the border should have been closed, and every port locked down. The entire economy should have been put on a total war footing. Instead, we were told to go to a ballgame and get a rasberry slurpy (Live Brave! Remember that nonsense).

What did the lack of a proper response, on the one hand, and Bush's "Live Brave" nonsense, on the other, communicate to the American people, to the world, and more importantly, to the Jihadists? That the WOT was really not very serious, and that whether or not we win it is optional. He has made the world more dangerous by empowering our enemies and by not having the country locked down in defense. With terrorists desiring nukes and others willing to give them the nukes, this was just unforgiveable. I reveals a level of incompetence that is unimaginable.

“History has judged Reagan well”

Not according to the left.

“and history will judge GW well.”

Not according to the right. For every one thing he has done right, he has totally gooned up two others. Appointing flaming homos to ambassadorships, leaving Klintonoid scum in office, increasing DOE funding, and above all opening us up to the beaner invasion...If I were engaged to a woman who disappointed me that many times, I wouldn’t marry her.
