I think maintaining that stance is going to be very difficult when temperatures are level or falling and meanwhile CO2 continues to rise... as is very likely to be the case given the projections (almost certainly accurate) of coal/oil use and projections (we’ll see) of solar irradiance.
Short memories are a common failing of sheeple. The actual facts will simply get buried in statistics and technobabble.
What if they’re wrong? What is that going to do the credibility of the scientists who are supporting this nonsense? They won’t allow their reputations to become soiled so they will hide the facts until the sheeple move on to the next alarmist enviro-issue.
