No Americans left in Washington DC
Small Government Times ^ | May 18, 2007 | JB Williams

EDITORIAL - When recently asked in an interview, who I thought won the first two Republican debates; I answered Fred Thompson and Newt Gingrich. They’re the only two candidates conservative enough to not be in this stupid race yet... They’re not late, the other eager beavers are early!

They’re the only two not joining the chorus of ten, eager to demonstrate their lack of conservative credentials in a futile attempt to attract both conservative and liberal voters. As a result, they’re also the only candidates not losing supporters in the debates.

(SNIP)

America is a nation built upon a belief in the individual, no matter where they came from, no matter what color or religion they are, no matter which side of the tracks they grew up on. America is a nation that believes in free enterprise, not socialism. America believes in personal freedom, not some so-called greater common good. There is no common good greater than individual freedom! Yet those in Washington DC disagree, believing instead that there is no common good, greater than themselves.

NAILED in the heart!

"Washington DC no longer supports free enterprise, national sovereignty, freedom or individual rights. They support the further empowerment of themselves over the people they were elected to represent. They divide by voting bloc for purposes of personal gain. They won’t unite even for the sake of national survival. But they will for the benefit of illegal aliens and foreign enemies."

Let JB Willims tell me that this candidate is less conservative than the two UNDECLARED candidates (who are conservative but....”):

by John Hawkins

PS: I can tell you from talking to Hunter that he is VERY PASSIONATE about building a fence on the border and about any and all things related to the military. He also seems to have a pretty good sense of humor.

snip
John Hawkins: Would you like to see Roe v. Wade overturned?

Duncan Hunter: Yes. You know, I’m the author of the personhood-at-conception bill which right now has over 100 co-sponsors ...that would define personhood as moment of conception, so, it would allow us to have a reversal of the effects of Roe v. Wade without a constitutional amendment.

DUNCAN HUNTER QUOTE: “Not only do we have a bad trade deal with China but they’re cheating on the one we do have. China is cheating on trade and they’re using our trade dollars to buy ships, planes and missiles. They’re becoming a super power and stepping into the shoes of the Soviet Union.”

Too bad he’s spent 20+ years in congress and nobody knows who he is still...

Conservative? YES! Great person? YES!

Leader? NO!

Hunter is a great leader, because he’s a tough, no-nonsense guy (yet kind), and gets things done. He’s the only one who accomplished getting a fence built on the border.

He fights for our border patrol agents.

The fact that he was elected to Congressman in California, when he ran against an 18-year Dem. incumbent, who was a rep. for 18 years, shows that Hunter is electable.

He built a 40 mile fence and represents a state run over by illegals...after the fence was built!

I love Hunter... But if he were a leader, he wouldn’t have spent 20+ years in congress without anyone ever figuring out who he is...

And, if he were a leader, he wouldn’t be running far behind the “unannounced” candidates....

I love Hunter. I studied him very close. He CAN’T win a national election...

We need more than a good conservative. We need a good conservative who can win, then lead.

Clinton only had a 2% poll number in October, so there is PLENTY of time.

If your point is that Hunter didn’t “promote” himself to U.S. Senator, that’s almost impossible in California (since President Reagan). Only RINOs, like Arnold, seem to get the best jobs in CA.

85% of Laura Ingraham’s fans like Hunter, and he was on Ingrahmas show today. I think Hunter is going to surprise us.

btw, the fence was 14 miles in San Diego, and I really don’t know which part of the border the 40 mile fence was built.

None of the other politicians even accomplished a 14 mile fence. Imagine what Hunter could do as president.

About the fence:

2. Duncan Hunter originated the fence along the Mexico-U.S. border decades ago in order to cut down crime against illegal immigrants. Today, that fence (a double fence) is 14 miles long. It has cut smuggling (people and drugs) over 90% and has drastically reduced the 10/year murder rate of illegal immigrants by removing the mobility of the cross border criminal gangs. It has eliminated the major cross border drug automobile chases. The crime rate in San Diego as a whole is 44% as compared to the pre-fence crime rate. A large scale extension of the fence (700 miles long) was authorized in the 2006 bill “Secure Fence Act of 2006”. His efforts over some 20 plus years have brought the fence to be considered as a major instrument of immigration policy and border control.

I feel your pain...

Hunter is a good man who can’t win. His only hope at the number one slot on the ticket is if neither Thompson or Gingrich run, and both will.

That means his best hope is to be picked as a running mate and the odds are not good for that either.

Leaders lead... Hunter has had more than 20 years in Washington DC to become a leader and he has not ever made a name for himself in that regard.

I like him and his family very much. But conservatives riding the Hunter wagon will end like liberals riding the Nader wagon...

>I think Thompson looks more presidential.....<

Ah, yes, looks exceed all qualifications for the most significant and stressful job in the entire world!

Thompson carries himself well, but Duncan Hunter, besides his good looks, is the only man who comes with all of what it will take to navigate this country through today’s shark infested waters to that safe, secure and prosperous
Americam shore we all long for.

Globalism is Thompson’s hidden creed; hidden beneath down-home, folksy platitudes and wordy paragraphs. With a sharply focused Duncan Hunter, what you see is what you get.
