We used to have 10 colonies and I am still fascinated by the bees. They really are a gift from God when you think of what it would take to duplicate the work that they do. They are perfectly designed for their vital task and all they ask is a warm place in the winter and some decent clean food to replace the precious honey that they allow us to take.

Like everything else in this world, someone probably figured that bigger bees could carry more honey. What happens in reality is that the bigger brood cells contain extra space for disease and mites. Hopefully this knowledge and imported stock from Russia, Asia, and Australia will lead to a return of wild bee colonies in North America.

The alternative is Africanized bees, and they have a nasty aggressive attitude that is hard to work with.

A lot of commercial guys supplement feed their bees, to both help through dearth, but more strategically, to help build them up, start the queen laying again early, so that there can be stronger colonies in the pre, or early spring, California almond pollenation efforts. Some guys from ‘cold’ country truck their bees to warmer pastures in California, about a month ahead of almond time, since the bees don’t fly well at all [and will die flying] in temps very much below fifty F, iffin they venture out, at all, which is doubtful. They gotta fly out to poop, if ya feed ‘em much...they don’t like pooping in their hive, if they can at all help it.

"Our company is called Pharmavite, and we manufacture both Nature Made and Nature's Resource nutritional supplements. "We have been in business since 1971. We shop our raw materials from all over the globe including the Americas. We are committed to quality control, and have very high quality standards. Our Quality Control personnel sample and test all raw materials as they enter our plant, and again assay the finished product, before final packaging. All of the tablets, softgels and capsules are made in San Fernando Valley in California U.S.A."

Hhhmmmm...no denial of anything about China, just alot of alluding and misdirection. They can't admit to having anything from China or they're toast. And they probably don't dare deny getting anything from China, probably because half their supplies come from there.

Very interesting that the Bee Colony Collapse almost perfectly coincides with the melamine contamination late last year.

It also coincides with the election of Democrats in Congress late last year.

Just because two things happen at the same time does not mean they are linked.

“And cell phone usage.”

They must really small headsets to fit the bees. I always wondered how they found their way back to the hive with a load of nectar.
