A San Antonio school principal tried again to pass the test required for her job. She recently took that test for the 38th time.
The results were not good and now she is out of that job.
A spokesperson for the San Antonio Independent School District says Elizabeth Rojas is no longer the principal at Smith Elementary.
She took the state exam required for her job again just a few weeks ago.
It was her second attempt since we revealed in February that she'd already failed it 36 times before, more than any other educator in the state.
Rojas failed again for the 38th time.
The district has now removed her from that job and given her the position of administrative assistant at Smith.
She now makes just slightly less than her nearly $78,000 a year principal's salary.
When we called the school and asked for Rojas Thursday, we were told she was still the principal and in a meeting with teachers.
The district says the interim principal is Billy Terrell who retired from the district last year.
He told us by phone today, that he is now running the school - not Rojas.
The district declined to comment on camera about Rojas' reassignment but parents at Smith had plenty to say.
"If you can't past the test, you don't need to be in that position."
"Well, I think she should be removed because she does need that certification to be a principal."
"She's a very good principal here at Smith. I'm sorry she's going to leave."
The district says the school will have a new permanent principal next year.
Rojas will be moved to some other job inside the district she is certified to do.
If she can't pass the test after 38 tries, how can she be bright enough to the the assistant? Janitor maybe?
Unbelievable, but it explains why public education is in the shape it is in!
Can't you just smell the discrimination lawsuit baking in the kitchen?
38 times? I fail a test once, I lose my job 38 times?
The superintendent of the Lawrence, MA schools failed a simple literacy test THREE times! He’s STILL superintendent!!
(The state changed the test after he failed to make it easier...)
OK, seriously, this is government for you; how did this get to go on this long to start with for this so-called Principal?
Does an elementary school principal need an assistant? In the local schools the nearest equivalent is the school secretary and the primary function is not helping the principal.
that is the very same reason why the schools keep screaming for money. Each one of those Assistant principals makes in the neighborhood of 80 to 100,000.00.
oops, 80 to 100,000.00 per 9 month year.
She may not know squat about literacy or history, but I’ll bet a c-note she can tell us all about safe sex and global warming.
SFPD recruits take 30+ tests during their 31 weeks at the academy. If one gets below 80% on a test that is considered failing. One re-test of a failed test is allowed. Get below 80% on it and you are out of the academy. There are up to 5 re-tests allowed atogether, then you are out.
Don’t think this is too easy. They have to learn mountains of stuff about the law.
Probably also an expert on intolerance, discrimination and self esteem enhancement.
Probably also an expert on intolerance, discrimination and self esteem enhancement.
How the hell did she get the job before passing the test first?
Oops, too many buttons on this mouse.
Oh well, everything I say is of such value that it ought to be said twice [just kidding]
Mayhap she can become part of the Guinness book of records.
Isn’t it wonderful how great the success of the Kennedy-Bush education legislation has been. It makes us proud to have been a party to this great work of bi-partisanship. (sarc)
Don't you mean "Mitt Romney"? I used to get Howie Carr locally, and he was on this a few times.
Seems it’s becoming epidemic!

Kathleen Sullivan is a noted constitutional scholar who has argued cases before the Supreme Court. Until recently, she was dean of Stanford Law School. In legal circles, she has been talked about as a potential Democratic nominee for the Supreme Court. But Ms. Sullivan recently became the latest prominent victim of California’s notoriously difficult bar exam. Last month, the state sent out the results of its July test to 8,343 aspiring and already-practicing lawyers. More than half failed — including Ms. Sullivan.
But those in charge of educating our children are allowed to fail 37 + times?
