OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - With former President Ronald Reagan in mind, some Oklahoma Republicans are encouraging the presidential aspirations of actor Fred Thompson, a former senator from Tennessee.
Former Oklahoma Republican Party chairman Steve Edwards and Corporation Commissioner Jeff Cloud are listed as members of the Draft Fred Thompson 2008 Committee.
Edwards says Thompson has the most exciting grassroots movement he's seen in politics.
He says the actor, who appears on the "Law and Order" television drama, has proven conservative credentials and a commanding personality that will carry him a long way if he jumps into the race.

Yabba dabba doo!
Run, Fred, Run!!!! :-)
The momentum continues to build, stronger and stronger!!
America is about to get a shot in the arm, and its name is FRED THOMPSON!!!! :-)
Missouri also seems to be well-represented on the Committee, with both their Lt. Governor and the Speaker Pro Tem of their House listed.
How about a Fred Thompson/Mark Sanford, or Thompson/Bill Owens (naming Owens would really hurt the dems’ goal of winning Colorado and Nevada) ticket in 08’? They both sound good to me.
