Is Bullocks really a swear word? I thought it was a nicer way of saying Bull S**t, like just saying bull.

“Bollocks” is a word of Anglo Saxon origin, meaning testicles in British English and in Hiberno-English.

Bullocks used to be a respectable department store in California, until it was taken over by Macy's and combined with a mid-range chain to make it a ho-hum place to shop.

But that's not realy what you're asking. I take it as a morph of the term "Bollicks", which we used to use as saying "Oh, Balls!"
