While I recognize that immigration reform is urgently needed, based on what Ive learned so far, I would oppose this proposal unless it is radically altered, said Dole. Just toss it. It's a big government monstrosity that will never work. A boondoggle. It's laughable. Hideous. An abomination. Worse, far worse than doing nothing at all.
Any GOP senators who sign on to this betrayal should be targeted for replacement.

Amen, Brother.
If the Republicans are unwilling to keep this from coming to a vote in the Senate, or can’t defeat it in the House, this will fracture the party.
Some of the Senator’s don’t come up for a few years and they think we’ll forget about it. They have a big suprise coming if they think the Dummocrats won’t use it against them with the conservative base in 08’, 10, and even ‘12.

I don't know whether you approve of Hugh Hewitt or not, but he has downloaded the bill and begun dissecting it online.
Among other points there is a mechanism to circumvent *all* the triggers, buried deep in the bill.

I agree except for one thing. AFTER the borders are closed and AFTER the current lawbreaking illegals are deported, there needs to be a more streamlined guest worker program. Those currently obeying the law are waiting from 5 to 10 years for entry into the US.
